MikeMc Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I will never build anything stock....somebody already did that...why again? This is my inspiration, but I am not a flat paint kind of guy, so I will listen to this as I cut and it will tell me what color /colors it wants to be covered in. This one will run steelies and whites as they seem to fit the Ardun flattie the best.
MikeMc Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 Where to start........6mm tape , move it around to figure it out.... looks good , now some black primer......?????? Now...remove the white and put it back together!!
MikeMc Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 Its like a plastic jigsaw puzzle!!...not much filler needed!!
MikeMc Posted December 13, 2010 Author Posted December 13, 2010 You didn't think I was done...did you???? Evergreen and Tenax time........ Now for some Primer, sanding, Mud, and more sanding, and primer..........
Mike Kucaba Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Very nicely done. This should answer a few questions about chopping and sectioning.I like the use of the tape and the primer.I prefer to use super glue on body modifications though. Good work.
Foxer Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 Those are some excellent cuts! I'm surprised the hood came back together so well.

Good work. Those are some excellent cuts! I'm surprised the hood came back together so well. Thanks Mikes!! The reason I get such good fits is the welding action of tenax.....others just do not weld correctly. I do use CA with accelerator for some repair work, but for chops It dries too hard and britlle unless you pin it....
89cxsport Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Makes me want to pull mine out and do something to it, either the scale model or the 1:1 in the backyard.
Agent G Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Thanks Mikes!! The reason I get such good fits is the welding action of tenax.....others just do not weld correctly. Someone else actually realizes that super glue and accelerator isn't all that great for doing major body mods. Thank You! Very good job on the mods, I'm waiting anxiously to see where this goes. G
Mike Kucaba Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 "Someone else actually realizes that super glue and accelerator isn't all that great for doing major body mods. Thank You!" I mentioned super glue only.I don't use the accelerator either.
MikeMc Posted December 14, 2010 Author Posted December 14, 2010 What did you use to make the cuts? My trusty Zona...can't build without it!! got it from Raul......
Nick Winter Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 That Primer and tape trick is very slick, might have to try that, thanks. Nick
MikeMc Posted December 14, 2010 Author Posted December 14, 2010 That Primer and tape trick is very slick, might have to try that, thanks. Nick old bodymans trick....like dust coats...they work!! Got some mud on and things are getting there.....Had to see what the rear looked like......
Clay Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Mike, that is looking great, but the bed looks a little too big.
MikeMc Posted December 14, 2010 Author Posted December 14, 2010 Mike, that is looking great, but the bed looks a little too big. Needs color.......The orig has a stock bed.....
MikeMc Posted December 15, 2010 Author Posted December 15, 2010 HOK Sunrise Yellow Pearl, Motor and wheels Tamiya Mica Red (white base)...... And you know me....I do not build "flashy" stuff :P
SuperStockAndy Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 That is awesome! I'm the same way. I never build stock. But if I do, it's going to be an absolute factory stock replica!
