disabled modeler Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Hi... I need information or tips on removing old decals from an old promo with factory two tone paint and dont want to harm it? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks! Mark
Guest Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Mark, try rubbing down clear scotch tape just on the decal, then give it a quick pull. It's worked for me pretty well. You may have to do it 2-3 times, but it will bring them off clean.
LoneWolf15 Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Roger has it ! After you've removed the decal , a little bit of Novus 2 will remove the decal residue . You'll never even know that it was there ! The Old Man
Dave Ambrose Posted December 21, 2010 Posted December 21, 2010 Solvaset, the decal setting solution, will soften decals to the point where they can be rubbed off with a q-tip.
W-409 Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 I have removed decals with warm water. Not hot! It works fine, if the decal haven't been long time at its place, but if it's old decal, then that's not pssible. But anyways, I removed decals from my '58 Impala like that, before I painted it blue. Maybe I'm supid or my enghlish is just s bad, but if I understood correctly, Plowboy meant that put tape on decal and pull it off from the body? And when decals leaves from the body, how do you get it off from that tape...? Do you use water for it? This is little problem to mee too right now. I have Mis Deal Funny Car, which is built once. There are very nice decals and I want to save them. Just can't get them off from the body. I think, there is no clearcoat on decals, but never can be sure.
