george 53 Posted July 10, 2011 Posted July 10, 2011 Bein how it's a Pontiac Sporty car, maybe you could use the 8 lug sport wheels that came in the 65 Bonneville/Grand Prix kits, keeping it all Pontiac in house. Either way, it sure is comming out BEAUTIFULLY! Very interesting idea.
customsrus Posted July 23, 2011 Author Posted July 23, 2011 Well it looks like it might be a little longer on the paint for this one, while I was preparing to paint the model it took a dive off my workbench. both doors have damage that I need fix (broke plastic hinges off doors and cracked one on the outside), the body came out of it without a scratch. Thank God. At this time I have replaced the plastic hinges with brass ones and begun repairs to the doors should be ready to paint soon.
customsrus Posted August 10, 2011 Author Posted August 10, 2011 Alright finally got some paint on this thing. Paint is Tamiya Mica Silver with Tamiya gloss clear top coat. I still need to buff out paint in a few days, but I am just glad to have it painted. What do you think.
Mike Kucaba Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 What do I think? I think it looks great!! It is a shame that it isn't easier to get some of the unique projects I see here into a quality resin casting. Your model is another fine one-of-a-kind ;)
GeeBee Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Very nice ! I've never heard of the car, but your attention to detail and cracking paint job is paying off,
horsepower Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 It's been awhile since any work has been done to this model, but I finally got to do a little work to it.Only thing I have worked on lately is the motor but at least it is near completion, only thing left is a little wiring and pick which air cleaner I want to use. Maybe you guys can help me with that dicision. First off this is the engine out of the Revells 66 GTO. scratch built throttle linkage, fuel lines, power steering and alternator brackets. I took apart the kit supplied belt and pullies, separating them into individual pieces, made fan belts out of masking tape. added an aftermarket distributor and wires. Made plug boots out of wiring insulation, oh well you get the picture. So on with the pictures. Here are pictures of the air cleaners which one do you think I should use. The first one is one I built that is just a normal air cleaner, The second one is one I made to mimmick the GTO hood scoop that I used on the corvette hood. This is what the motor looks like in the car with both air cleaners used. I will have to paint the second cleaner to match the color of the car. I would use the stock tri-power 'Vette air cleaner, the triangle shaped one.
customsrus Posted August 16, 2011 Author Posted August 16, 2011 Well it's almost complete, still have to finish the back bumper and the rocker panels. Put some more wires to the engine and blah blah blah, you get the picture. It ended up sitting a little higher than I wanted due to the back window not being in place during the mock up stages. Oh well.
customsrus Posted August 16, 2011 Author Posted August 16, 2011 A couple pictures of the interior and engine.
customsrus Posted August 16, 2011 Author Posted August 16, 2011 And one last thing what do you guys think about this decal. I wish I had some PE for the side badges but beggers cant be chosey.
LAone Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 this looks great. very nice work done. it does look alot like a vette. could fool me.
Eshaver Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Kinda looks like an up dated Cougar II , then again , kinda like an updated Corvette prototype . Ed Shaver
