SuperStockAndy Posted July 18, 2011 Author Posted July 18, 2011 Well, I can't decide if I want to have opening doors or not. I think it'd be cool, but it DEFINITELY wouldn't be cool if I screwed the body up! Any input on this? Thanks, Andy
Dragracer Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 The only thing I can say is, if you are not sure about doing a good job on it, either practice on a scrap body or just don't do it, either way I'm sure it'll be a great build,I've been very impressed by your builds Andy, & I'm sure your uncle is also.
SuperStockAndy Posted July 18, 2011 Author Posted July 18, 2011 Thanks Richard, I think I got a Nova body laying around I can try on.
Dragracer Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 It's not really that hard, I've done it to a few (3)cars, my '69 Yenko Nova P/M,'41 Willys P/M & a Dodge Polara P/M, the Nova & Polara came out good, on the Willys the opening on one side looks a little big when the door is placed in, the other side looks fine, just go slowly & carefully, using the back side of an X-Acto blade (#11),take your time & be sure to post more pics!
bandit1 Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 I REALLY need to keep up on updating my topics... Anyhow, some progress pictures: I got the paint stripped off of the engine and cut the manual tranny off: I did a test paint on a plastic spoon: And last but not least, I made a wheel tub(I'm NOT using this one, it's just for mock up) Thanks for looking!! i wouldnt mind having one of those 70 camaro kits as well as the 69 ss camaro kit for parts to build a project of my own!
SuperStockAndy Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 Thanks guys I opened up a door on that Nova, actually came out good. My only problem is going to be making good hinges, but I'll have to check Rommell's tutorial on that.
gasser59 Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Your dad's car looks great and building a tribute of it is a cool idea. Too bad you don't have more reference pix of it. Your build is progressing nicely and I'll be following along with your progress. What is your paint color on the spoon?
SuperStockAndy Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 Thanks Brad Actually it's my Uncle's car xD I actually have about 100-120 pictures of it. I have a bunch of the interior. Oh, and the paint is Testors lacquer Fiery Orange. It's pretty metalflaky though :\
SuperStockAndy Posted July 20, 2011 Author Posted July 20, 2011 Got the fuel pump built, pictures coming soon
Dragracer Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Looks good Andy, nice Nova/Chevy2 in the background!
SuperStockAndy Posted July 20, 2011 Author Posted July 20, 2011 Thanks Richard, as I took that picture I had actually just started the Nova
Foxer Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Really nice looking work here, Andy. And don't worry about "slowest builder known to man" ... that's my job! Haven't completed a build for 3 years but I've been working on them all that time. If I finish one, I can't work on it anymore!
SuperStockAndy Posted July 20, 2011 Author Posted July 20, 2011 Thanks Mike, and I feel your pain. I'm building an El Camino and it's REALLY close to being done but I can't finish it due to the dash not even coming close to fitting
SuperStockAndy Posted July 21, 2011 Author Posted July 21, 2011 Small update! Put a line on the harmonic balancer for timing. I also made a timing tab with a very small silver mark, although you can't see it in the picture.
SuperStockAndy Posted October 7, 2011 Author Posted October 7, 2011 Sorry for not updating this. The reason is, well, I haven't made any progress to update you guys on...
bandit1 Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Sorry for not updating this. The reason is, well, I haven't made any progress to update you guys on... no prob man! everybody has a different build speed rate!
SuperStockAndy Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 Ha, thanks. I've been building more lately. I don't get ANY building done during summer.
SuperStockAndy Posted December 7, 2011 Author Posted December 7, 2011 I redid the subframe, I'm hoping to get pictures up of it soon.
