Greg Myers Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 For the past several days many posters on the spotlite board have been receiving unwanted e-mails , usually seven or eight at a time.
Rob Z Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 For the past several days many posters on the spotlite board have been receiving unwanted e-mails , usually seven or eight at a time. Greg, I haven't gotten any of that mess and am there several times throughout the day. Did you or any of the others click on one of the spam links? If so then that could be the whole problem right there. I avoid those spam messages like the plague, not only are they annoying but they can be a real headache if opened.
Greg Myers Posted January 11, 2011 Author Posted January 11, 2011 The spam was generated from responses within other post. An interesting thing is these are several days in the past.
Guest Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I've got a few myself. The spammers make a reply in your topic, then you get the email notification. That's how it seems to work in my situation anyway.
billb Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Greg Myers....I've been a daily visitor over there for years, and have NEVER had a problem at all... I think it's unfair to Tom and his crew to point a finger and say it's their fault ,when really it's probably your own for not being carefull about what you opened...
ScaleSpeedShop Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I think that Tom does an excellent job over on the Spotlight Hobbies Board. I have visited that board for well over 10 years and never once had a problem. Thanks for all your hard work Tom. Ron@ScaleSpeedShop

Belair2k Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 Uh, I must have misread Greg's message. I didn't get the impression that he was blaming anybody. Joe, how is it that complaints about the email notifications could cause the board to close? Please, I'd really like to know. It should be noted that the Spotlight board is NOT spamming anyone so reporting the email notifications will only cause trouble for the Spotlight board & possible closure of the board if too many reports are made.
cruz Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 All I can say is that at least we have choices, several years back we didn't have any forums or this great available information that we passionate modelers love to share. We all need to acknowledge and be thankful for this much versatility. Everywhere you go you will always find good people talking and sharing our passion and I think we should be respectful of that.
Harry P. Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Ok... like the other topic talking about the SA site, this topic should be discussed ON THE SPOTLIGHT BOARD! Why in the world would you complain about Spotlight's problems here and not on the Spotlight board??? If the Spotlight board needs to get its act together... tell it to the Spotlight board!
