Mr. Moparman Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 While I am waiting for parts for my Challenger I decided to start on the Hemi Dart I got for Christmas. Me and my friend were talking the other day about Dick Landy, Sox and Martin and all the other famous drag racers. Then a idea hit us, we will build a slew of models, all drag racers. They all woud have custom decals. They would all have a story based on that car and what that car had to do with us. Here is the first car. I hav'nt pick a coloryet but it might be silver. The Story Brandon gets into his 1968 Hemi Dart on the morning of Saturday May 21, 2020. His buddy Will is try to explain to him what to do but Brandon is so eager to race (Did I mention it was his first race?) he is like yeah, yeah hit the gas when the light turns green. “Yep, now go get ‘em!†He leaves his mark at the starting line and makes it down the track at a blazing 5.92 seconds. The Build The body after opening up the back wheel wells, removing the GTS logos and removing the front marker lights. The custom decals me and my friend made. Enjoy!
mrmike Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 I'll be watching this one Brandon! Are going to post your friends completed model? It'll be great to see the completed group of racers!
diymirage Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 looks like your off to a good start brandon if i could give you a little money saving tip on the decals, i noticed you used the entire sheet for 4 little decals when i print decals i always print a few tests on regular paper once i am pleased with the test i will cut out a pece of decal sheet just a little larger then i need and tape it over the test print that way im only using what i need and i can "stretch" a decal sheet a lot further
Mr. Moparman Posted January 22, 2011 Author Posted January 22, 2011 Ok thanks! I'll be watching this one Brandon! Are going to post your friends completed model? It'll be great to see the completed group of racers! Yes I will Mike! Thanks!
Mr. Moparman Posted January 22, 2011 Author Posted January 22, 2011 I have decided my color would be Model Master Sub-Lime Green. The Story When they get back to the shop they start tinkering around with a new car, a ’67 Dodge Charger R/T, that they bought for $500 dollars at the Mopar Nationals. After that they wash the Dart to get it ready for next’s week’s race. The Build Engine work has started. Don't even get started about the intake manifold it's not bothering me one bit. I was thinking about fabricating a '68 Charger tailpan fit this one but I have decided aganst it. The body got a coat of primer today. Enjoy!
Rob Z Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 Body work looks good, only one small detail. On the lower part of the fender that's showing the little Penstar emblem is also deleted on the fiberglass front ends of these cars...
