Ken#5fan Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 What would the best way to replicate the unfinished look of fiberglass on a 60's funny car? I was looking at pics of the restored Hawaiin, I don't want to do just flat black. Thanks. Ken
Cato Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 A gauze-type material like cheesecloth or model airplane silk with epoxy or resin squeege'd on.
Ken#5fan Posted February 2, 2011 Author Posted February 2, 2011 That is a good idea. Then paint it flat black and dry wash it with some dark grey. Thanks Cato!!
iBorg Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Try a medical tape, preferably a paper one. Self adhesive, weighs less and a lot easier to install. Mike
moparmagiclives Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Would well placed sanding marks covered in paint give the look of raw fiberglass mat? Its a pretty small weave in 1:1 isnt it? I think matting glued to the body might be a bit large in scale. Just my thoughts.
Ken#5fan Posted February 3, 2011 Author Posted February 3, 2011 Might try the sanding option on a peice of scrap to see how it turns out. Thanks for the comments guys!! Ken
