I did a search on this, but I only found info on paint, and chrome stripping.

I just bought an AMT 64 Ford Hardtop kit with the headlights, that was already put together. I already got it apart, and got the old paint stripped with oven cleaner. It's not what I would consider a "glue bomb", but there are a few places I would like to clean up the best I can, before body prep, and primer. I just would not want to try something that might chemically ruin the plastic of this rare kit. Seems like its the plastic cement from a tube.

Any ideas???? Thank You

G,day mate , the only thing i've heard is to put it in the freezer for a couple of days and it should shrink the glue and its easier to remove .

Freezer followed by very, very, very, very careful work with an X-Acto chisel blade will do the job generally speaking.

Sprinkle a little water on the model first, it expands and helps pull things apart.

Thanks for the replies guys. Actually the worst glue is in a spot where the headlights in the grill will cover it up. I really do not have to remove much at all...now.

Tony,

I've had to resort to using the Dremel to remove glue spots before, but I've used the freezer method too, and it works.

It also works on breaking super glue bonds as well.

BTW, love the avatar B) Up the Irons, bro
