diymirage Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 looks good and the good news is...its totally rebuildable
impcon Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Watching the ending of that movie mad me ill.. what a waste of a gorgeous automobile. Does Hollywood have a mad on for old cars or what? The last Fast and Furious that I saw was even worse with the cars that were destroyed in it.. it really made me NOT like the movie and I wont waste my time going to the newest one when it comes to our local theatre. I just don't like seeing old cars needl;essly destroyed. Sort of reminds me of the James Bond movie where they blew up a '57 Ford retractable.. why? I know - I know - it was just an old car when they made that movie but even so, it was still a pretty special old car... My wife and I just finished watching the series "Flash Forward" and in one of the episodes, the one actor repeatedly backs his vehicle into the side of a vintage Thunderbird 0 a '61 or '62 I believe it was.. Now why did they have to use that car? Why not a stinkin' Honda or Toyota? Really ticks me off when I see an old car needlessly destroyed like that. I know that the 'bird could have been a rusted hulk bondo'd up and painted to look mint but still... why not some new piece of modern ######?
wvsm Posted February 6, 2011 Author Posted February 6, 2011 I agree but 1 way to look at it is the more they tear up the more the others will be worth. It makes it pricy to own an old one but rewarding also. Kinda like a dog saved from the pound. One day those tunners will all be used because it will be cheaper. I can't wait till that day though!

Uh - I think that you missed the point - yes, you are right in that one less m akes the others worth more - but what if you want to really own one of those that are left - it just became a little more expensive to buy. It's nice to own an old car, butthings have gotten so out of hand lately with Ebay and the likes of Barrett Jackson and the media hype in general driving prices out of saight. Even people who have a hulk sitting in their back yard have the fever and I have heard more times than I care to remeber how "I swa one of those sell on Barrett Jackson for $xxxxxx.00 - that means that this one has to be worth _______ *insert some retarded out of this world price here*. There are different ways tolook at it all - no question about that but I liked it better when you could buy a decent car for an affordable, decent price and not tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. Sorry - we've gotten off track here.. my appologies - I wasn't trying to hijack the thread. Edited February 6, 2011 by impcon
wvsm Posted February 6, 2011 Author Posted February 6, 2011 HA HA I agree with you i remember when those cars were 10 yrs old you could get a running one for less than a grand. Back to the thread I like making crash cars nascar,tv and even real wrecks. I also like to scratchbuild though and of course cannot forget the kits and kit bashing.
Chuck Most Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 Great job! (Notice I resisted saying 'bang up job'... I think I remember reading that the violence of the crash in F&F was camera trickery- the actual car was not too badly damaged. A source said it looked as if a new subframe would be all that would be needed to drive it. Not a big fan of wrecking old cars in movies (except first-gen Camaros and '57 Chevys... sorry!), but I still get a kick out of seeing that '67 Fury get destroyed on Mythbusters reruns... and this is coming from the proud owner of a 1:1 '67 Fury! As was mentioned, theoretically mine IS worth more now...
VW Dave Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Feel free to comment Looks good, but I'd like to see better pics of it
Railfreak78 Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Looks good, but I'd like to see better pics of it I agree here totally! I like what I can see but I can barely see it
Jantrix Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 I agree here totally! I like what I can see but I can barely see it I'm gonna third that. Mark, your neat little all-aspects-in-one-view photo's are tre chic and all that, but we modelers are all about detail and clarity. Give us five seperate shots, a larger view, better focus please.

If that kind of stuff makes you ill, then never ever go near an English Banger Racing track. Among MANY other classics, I saw a James Young bodied Bentley and a Jaguar XK 150 being smashed to bits. And yes, that's an Alvis TA 21 getting blitzed by the Bentley. Edited February 23, 2011 by Junkman
