Crusader101 Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I wish I had that level of modeling skill...looks terrific and I certainly hope that resin copies may someday be made available.
Rob Z Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I wish I had that level of modeling skill...looks terrific and I certainly hope that resin copies may someday be made available. I agree, I had a '78 Fairmont and this is looking really good...
Joe Handley Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I'm in awe that you started with a mid 60's GTO to get this FANTASTIC WORK!
pharr7226 Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 It's hard to believe you started with a GTO... very clever. Outstanding workmanship!
Plasticfanatic Posted February 10, 2011 Author Posted February 10, 2011 Yesterday blended with Tamiya epoxy putty all the bodywork modifications, light sanded and today put the "red mud" glazzing putty for the small imperfections, it looks like a mess right know but hope to have it sanded and primed in a few days, then the real test.....see if it really looks like a Fairmont after all the work!!!!
Rob Z Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Sure looks good to me, just curious to see what is going to be used for a grill/headlight assembly...
Plasticfanatic Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 Today made the front grille of the car, is from styrene sheet, cut and laminated, not a perfect replica but will do!! Also put a light coat of primer in the body to see if the profile of the Fairmont was there, I am happy with the result so far, now will beging the final sanding, adding the door and trunk lines, door handles and window trim....and this one is done...then to the paint shop!!
Plasticfanatic Posted February 11, 2011 Author Posted February 11, 2011 The backlight are is next in the build, also the back bumper still need to be finished by adding the top piece and put in the correct position, in these photos is to "inside" the back end
Railfreak78 Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 This is amazing work! I am so impressed. I really would like some tips on how you made the grill. I need to make one for a 1976 Buick Skylark and rear to convert a Nova. You have amazing skills and fore thought to create this out of the 2 cars you used. I can't wait to see more!
Guest Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 This is some awesome work! If I hadn't seen you start with a '65 GTO, I wouldn't have believed it.
