Kanedge Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Welcome to my new build, my version of the Ducati 916. I originally built this kit about 13 years ago, it was my favourite build, but it met with an untimely fate. So I'm tackling this one again, it will be interesting to see if it turns out any better than the last. Ducati's have always been one of my favourite bikes, and my definite favourite is the Ducati 1098 Tricolore version. This is a limited edition paint scheme that Ducati have used on some earlier models, unfortunately the 916 was never offered with this paint. And with Tamiya unlikely to release a new 1098, for the present anyway, I'm going to see if I can replicate the Tricolore paint scheme and do my version as if it were offered on the 916. This is the kit, what the 1098 Tricolore scheme looks like, and the start I've made. I've got the body parts glued together, now need to fix and sand the joins. I also got the stand done, tried a couple of new techniques that I wanted to try, let me know what you think. Anyway, thanks for looking.
Custom Mike Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 This should be another killer build from you Kane, that bike is gorgeous! I'll be watching!

cruz Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 Love these Tamiya bikes my friend, looks to be a great project!!!
Brendan Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 I really like the paint scheme on the motorcyle. Be interesting to watch how the project progresses.
Kanedge Posted March 8, 2011 Author Posted March 8, 2011 Managed to get a bit of progress made on this one. The body parts are ready for colour, (no pics and too lazy to spray) Here is the rear swing-arm and engine. Boxstock so nothing to say really, except for: Rear shock reservoir, blue. Story: owner of the bike requested from the factory an upgrade to the shocks on this bike. Real story: didn't have any clear orange at the time so went with blue. Thanks for looking.
Custom Mike Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Kane, that is some absolutely beautiful detail work! And I love your explanation for the Blue shock, sounds like something I'd come up with!
