RodneyBad Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 I like those wheels Decals are looking much better, wish I knew what I did with mine 20yrs ago, I know I didn't use them. Nice looking hinges. Uhm, I think you need a new Plug in strip, it looks Burnt.
stewart Posted March 26, 2011 Author Posted March 26, 2011 Zukiholic Icon Posted Today, 09:53 PM I like those wheels Decals are looking much better, wish I knew what I did with mine 20yrs ago, I know I didn't use them. Nice looking hinges. Uhm, I think you need a new Plug in strip, it looks Burnt. Thanks Rodney. The epoxy is finished hardening and the doors work perfectly. I am excited that it turned out so well. As far as the plug in strip LOL, I forget how I burned out that plug but the rest of them work and the thing is really cheap. I think I had my soldering iron only plugged in half way and it made a big spark. STewart
RodneyBad Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 Just checking, got think abut Safety now and then Had to go back and see where ya found the wheels and seats. Mmmm, Think I'll part out one of my Chargers for Van seats.
stewart Posted March 26, 2011 Author Posted March 26, 2011 If you are using them for you dajiban, you might want some even better racing seats. This kit has some really great custom parts in it and a very nice set of racing seats. STewart
Foxer Posted March 26, 2011 Posted March 26, 2011 Coming along nicely, Stewart. That interior is killer ... really looks good! Now, I'm waiting for the rear door hinges..
stewart Posted March 26, 2011 Author Posted March 26, 2011 I think I am going to cheat and do it the easy way . I have some of detail master's photo etched door hinges that I am going to use. STewart
stewart Posted March 27, 2011 Author Posted March 27, 2011 (edited) Still trying to figure out the rear door hinges. I have put the interior panel on one of the doors. Here is a picture of the rear with hinges installed. Instead of a bumper I decided to use old style bumperettes. I put a piece of styrene rod in my dremel and rounded it. I then painted it rubber and put it in a piece of aluminum tubing. STewart Edited March 27, 2011 by stewart
Foxer Posted March 27, 2011 Posted March 27, 2011 Those back door hinges should work well. I'm not sure newer vans had those pin hinges that gave me so much trouble on my old GMC van build. These will give a smooth look on the outside. I like that bumper treatment.. creative.
stewart Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 I haven't given up on my van but I have not had quite enough time to work on it. Too busy with school and work. I have made a small amount of progress though. The only think that is holding me up is the doors. I have the rear doors finally installed but the hinging for the hood is a huge headache. Can't seem to get everything glued on right so the hood will open nicely. I need more patience LOL STewart I have actually considered gluing the hood shut but I would really like to add some nice visible engine detail. STewart
stewart Posted May 14, 2011 Author Posted May 14, 2011 I am almost done with the build. Only major part that needs to be done now is finishing the engine and making the front suspension. I finally got the rear doors in place and I think I have figured out the hood. I also filled in the gaps around the door and interior. Still needs a little work but it is almost there. Rear suspension is almost there. Just have to install it. Here is the start of headers for the engine and the air intake. STewart
RodneyBad Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Doors are looking good. I like those style of hinges Less fuss more fun...
stewart Posted May 14, 2011 Author Posted May 14, 2011 Yeah it is definitely not perfect but I don't want to go back and try to change things. I just know what to do better next time. STewart
Foxer Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 Yeah on the doors! .. I can feel that! Looks like headers are "a wrap" too. It's good to see this back on the table ... soon maybe I can get back into my van. You're giving me inspiration at any rate,
stewart Posted May 20, 2011 Author Posted May 20, 2011 Got a little more done. This is getting real close to being finished. Radiator \ Engine installed Next comes a little body work touch-up, some interior details completed, and then I will put in the suspension and exhaust. STewart
stewart Posted May 20, 2011 Author Posted May 20, 2011 I have the brake booster read to go in, the brakes painted (they are from crazy scale auto parts. pretty nice ), the battery ready, and the wiper wash container painted. Another pic of the engine. STewart
Foxer Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 That's a beautiful radiator fan and so is the engine .. hope we get to see it when front is all buckled up.
stewart Posted May 20, 2011 Author Posted May 20, 2011 Well unfortunately, You can't really tell. But it was really easy to put together and looks beautiful when done. Engine Bay is DONE!!! I glued in the grille, intakes, put on the washer fluid tank, and optima battery, and started plumbing the brake lines from the brake booster. The rear suspension is almost ready to go on. Just have to finish the drive shaft. Here are the pics A pic of the interior. I just finished up the final touch. Seat belts STewart
stewart Posted May 21, 2011 Author Posted May 21, 2011 I have the exhaust system in and ready to go. All that is needed now is to put in the front suspension and the moon roof. Here are the pics I had the tips machined for me by a friend of mine. They look amazing. Front strut Front strut with shock absorber and wheel I will post under glass pics tonight hopefully. Yipeeee STewart
stewart Posted May 21, 2011 Author Posted May 21, 2011 Complete!!! Just have to do the trailer now. Here are the pics of the front chassis. The van still needs a few odds and ends like rear lights and a steering setup but it is almost completely done. Here is a pic of it. The rest are in under glass STewart
crazyjim Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Glad to hear you liked my Brembo brakes castings, STewart. The van is tremendous.
