TheCat Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 LOL... really cool looking figure. An Abrams Tank Crew member?
Agent G Posted February 21, 2011 Author Posted February 21, 2011 Tank, is the correct answer. Specifically a USMC M60A1RISE from the first Gulf war. Stay tuned. G
Agent G Posted February 21, 2011 Author Posted February 21, 2011 Here's the tank as of today. Tamiya's M60A1 RISE with ERA, as used by the Marine Corps in ODS. I ordered some aftermarket tracks which should be in soon, hence the lack of wheels. For info purposes the add on panels are Explosive Reactive Armor. They are designed to explode when hit by a hollow charge warhead like an RPG. The panel defeats the armor piercing jet by deflecting it away from the hull. And we all made fun of the Russians for storing diesel fuel on their tanks. G
TheCat Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Wayne, That's a REALLY Good Kit from Tamiya. Your build is looking really cool. I built it with the Nato Camo colors.
Agent G Posted February 22, 2011 Author Posted February 22, 2011 I am enjoying the heck out of this one Felix. I'm thinking of Hobby Lobby, 40% off coupon, and another one. G
TheCat Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Wayne, you're making me want to purchase another Tamiya M60A1. By the way, Here's the link to my M60A1 that I've built a few years back. M60A1 Blazer When I bought this model kit it only cost me $32.00. Now I've seen them going for over $40.00+ Hopefully I can find another one around or below the old price I've paid.
Agent G Posted February 22, 2011 Author Posted February 22, 2011 I found it for $39 at Hobby Lobby and with a 40% off coupon I could justify the purchase. G
TheCat Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 I found it for $39 at Hobby Lobby and with a 40% off coupon I could justify the purchase. G That's a good price.
Agent G Posted March 8, 2011 Author Posted March 8, 2011 I did a bit more waiting for the AM tracks to get here. I didn't like the oldskool hollow jerrycans with the molded on racks and straps. So I made my own. I made the wheel hangers fron craft wire. They look a lot like what the real deal used. I had to drill out the lug holes in the wheels though. Oh BTW Felix, I scored another one of these kits for, wait for it, $15.99 without a coupon at my Hobby Lobby. No way I could pass that up. Mrs G agreed (thank goodness) G
JHDrew Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Nice! I like all the effort you are putting into the details. Keep it up.
Agent G Posted March 28, 2011 Author Posted March 28, 2011 Finally got some confirmation on my orders delivery date! The tracks are enroute from SLC Utah! Kreepers I could have driven there and back 12 times by now. I'll be using some AFV Club individual link tracks on this. Each link has three pieces and joins the other links with two more. Be prepared for some bashing, crashing and foul language. More to come. G
Agent G Posted April 4, 2011 Author Posted April 4, 2011 A couple of hours, cursing, some paint, a stiff drink and Fini! I am really happy with the way this turned out. G
