Roger U Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 I would like to find some 1/24 or 1/25 scale tires for Land Speed Record models. They are rounded cross section, with no tread and relatively small in width (not like drag slicks). Are they available from somewhere or do they have to be scratchbuilt? How would you scratchbuild them? Thank you guys for any sources/information you can give.
VW Dave Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 I've yet to try it, but it makes sense that black rubber o-rings could work
Eric Stone Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 You might be able to find some from the Revell Mickey Thompson Challenger I kit, but they're an odd size, so you'd probably have to use the wheels from it too.
shucky Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Roger, I'll second what Dave said about the rubber O Rings. They would look perfect in this application. Visit your local hardware store and take a look or order virtually any size possible from McMaster Carr online. I recently worked on some to fit billet drag wheels and turned down the center section flat on a high speed drill for frontrunners on a drag Mustang project.
LDO Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 (edited) Or start with funny car front tires. They're rated for 300+ mph. Edited March 2, 2011 by LDO
