JHDrew Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Thought I might share a couple Edward 1/72 Fokker DR1's that I built a few years ago. One is with skin on and the other was a partial photo etch version without the skin. Enjoy. Jim
george 53 Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 WoW! They're beautiful! they look like jewery! How long did it take you do build them? They look so fragile. The compareson with the dime is outstanding. REALLY gives you the idea!
Harry P. Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 WOW! That's amazing! The detail on both is very impressive, but on the "bare" version it's unbelievable at such a small size.
Agent G Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Holy &^%$! Those are fantastic. The nekkid tripe is just, just, well over the top. G
Bastardo Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Great looking "drei-decker"s Is the first one painted or are the stripes a decal? If painted, what technique did you use? Been looking for that Eduard stripped Dr. I for a while now... And curently I am working on an old Revell's Dr. I in 1/28, adding 95% of the detail in scratch and it's been going on forever... And I want it in the same scheme as your Dr. I, so I'm asking about the technique above
JHDrew Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 (edited) It's all straight out of the box. The markings are all decals that came with the kit. The stripes and crosses could be masked and painted on yours. Doesn't someone make a sheet of crosses in that scale? The camo stripe work was done with a primary base coat sprayed on and three differen't shades dry brushed. The cross areas were masked for most of the operation. The final dry brush was done with everything exposed. I used a wide flat brush for it all. Take your time an work with almost no paint on the brush an you will get it done. Bastardo Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 Crosses are not a problem - they are a part of the kit, but they are ment for the Red baron's plane. I want to do one of the versions with stripe-style camo - that's secksy
Jim Gibbons Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Those are beautiful. I built von Richtofen's version for a friend. I'd really like to build the framework version, but I need to get a photoetch jig first. The Eduard kits are wonderful.
Howard Cohen Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Are you insane? Those are amazing!!!!! Thought I might share a couple Edward 1/72 Fokker DR1's that I built a few years ago. One is with skin on and the other was a partial photo etch version without the skin. Enjoy. Jim
jeffs396 Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 WOW Jim!!! Awesome work! As an A & P mechanic, I can really appreciate the "bare bones" airframe! I've even worked on Fokkers! (albeit F28s and F100s )
