DiscoSpud Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Hey Guys! Here is my 1949 Mercury Coupe, started 5 years ago I only just finished it last week, unfortunately as a result of moving interstate I have lost the windshield. I tinted the glass red just for something different, but appart form a larger Pontiac GTO radiator this is a complete OOTB build.
Naydrus Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 I built that same kit. Hell, mine is even similar to yours. Ill post mine so you can see.
Naydrus Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 I fotgot to mention. I did not add the chrome bumpers, because I felt they were too bulky on the car, so I filled the peg holes with JB Weld, let it dry for a few days, then my fiance completely sanded the body down, I painted the car, and you cant even tell the holes were even there. I wanted that shaved look, and it turned out great.

I never leave suspension alone lol. Check out my 49 ford build when you can, it'll be my first four-link suspension job yet
Erik Smith Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 then my fiance completely sanded the body down Huh? A fiance that likes to sand? Nice work - love those Mercs.
Naydrus Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 Huh? A fiance that likes to sand? Nice work - love those Mercs. Be shocked... my fiance actually does 95% of the sanding on the bodies for my cars. She uses this 1 inch by 1 inch by 4 inch nail block, from Sallys Beauty Supply.(She loves to do her own nails) You can get them in all different grits, and its alot cheaper than sand paper. Alot of my cars are modified, so she goes through, takes off door handles, emblems, side markers, etc. She does a good job of it too.
