  1. I got my model of a 67 Olds Toro, and upon further inspection, I noticed the chrome on the front end is starting to fade. Is there a way I can re-chrome it without having to send it out? What is Alclad? Ive seen it mentioned a few times.
  2. I thought the purpose of this forum was to express our creative sides... how we interpret (sp) our builds. If your a average builder like me, who cares what you use to create a outcome. In reference toe the sewing thread for wires.... guess what.. I DID! I did it on my Mercury. I say use what you want.. how you want.
  3. I won this car on auction from Ebay, it was the closest I could find to my moms real life 1968 Olds Toronado. Even though they are one year different, I plan on modeling it after the one my mother owns. All I have to say is... THIS KIT IS OLD. I have NEVER felt plastic like this before, it feels almost brittle. Suprisingly, even though the kit was opened, all pieces were intact, a few were sitting in a plastic baggy inside. The chrome was in good shape. From what I have gathered, this car was purchased from a store called Barkers or Bakers, in Monroe LA on Dec 28, 1968. (The date and whatnot were written in pen on the box) They paid a $1.59... yes, you read that right... $1.59! I wish we could buy kits like that for those prices! All my other projects are being put on hold, as I want to dedicate all my skills to this one car. Here are a few pics of parts laid out... its going to be a interesting build! PS- Sorry for stating such a paragraph about this... just I am very excited about this build, as I have never seen this kit before. To me, this is a rare, once in a lifetime project that I will probably never find again.

    64 Mustang

Im not a Ford fan, but that is absolutely beautiful.... great job!
  5. I have yet to work with resin... but if someone is casting a specific part because A: Its cool, and B: Its functional in the aspect of that it can be used on different builds, then I see no reason why they shouldnt be allowed to. Im fully aware of the whole copyright thing.. but stop and look, people download music and movies from the Net all the time? They cant lock ALL of us up.
  6. I built this kit years ago.. and loved it. Too bad my X wife trashed my collection. Seeing yours reminded me that I should get another one... looks great dude!
  7. That... is.... too... bloody... cool! I wanna drive!
  8. I like that color.... its subtle.. but stands out at the same time... excellent build! Just the right amount of touches to make her look classy. (Sorry, all cars to me are female, lol) I might have to build another First Gen Camaro at some point.. I already did the Yenko, and loved it. (Its posted in the Under Glass thread) By the way, I have that EXACT engine stand too! I need more of em!
  9. That is one beautiful Olds vert! Was it a kit? If so, I wanna get my hands on one. Great job!

  11. That is pretty slick dude.... loe the color combo... would have never seen it on a Ferrari, but you pulled it off nicely!
  12. Isnt that the Minolta Toyota 88C Race car??
  13. That is just too cool! Excellent job on the details!
  14. Engine on the left looks better in my opinion. The intake looks more realistic. Both look nice.. but I would go with #1 if I had a choice.
  15. Very interested! Maybe now I wont be so afraid to cut my doors off my cars!
  16. Ive heard of Deans.. just never had the chance to get there.... I found a few on Ebay.. talkin to my mom bout a early birthday present, lol.
  17. Oh my god... seriously.. where did you get that kit?!?! I drive a 93, and have ALWAYS wanted a Caprice for my collection!!! Ive seen the Impala SS, and while they are similar, the grill is different.. along with the rims.... been searching high and low for a Caprice.... and the only one I have found was a 76 at my local HS.....
  18. Marshall, its not my build, lol.
  19. Good idea on the exhaust.... guess I just didnt think of it... YES! Burning the ankles of poor saps who so much as think about touching this car is a great idea. Time to break out the handy dandy lighter again! Muahahahaha!
  20. Oh no! Its the earthquake of 1909 all over again! Sorry, bad pun there.... very sorry to hear what happened to your dio... it was a masterpiece... something that even Van Gogh would be hard pressed to match. But, a man of your talent should have no problem making it right again. I look foreward to it! And yes! If I figure out a way to make my stands.. Ill be more than happy to share with you! I have the design and whatnot in my head, I should put it on paper, and then go from there. Hopin to hit the HS this week to get some supplies... so as soon as I get buildin em, Ill post pics for you to see.
  21. Hi Marshall.. came across your build.. Corvette and S-10 caught my attention, lol. Noticed the pic of the rims you are using and also noticed this is 1/20th scale, correct? If so, I have a set of custom rims that came with a Lindberg GMC Cyclone kit that I would donate to you, as chances of me actually building this kit is next to none. My grandmother picked the kit up along with a few others a few years ago, and this truck was alreday partially assembled.. and I just havent gone anywhere with it. Here is a pic of the custom rims that came with the truck. If interested, send me a PM and we can work something out.

    Nice;

THought I would put my 2 cents in here. Aside from being a model builder, Im a avid gamer, leaning towards First Person Shooters, role palying games, and racing games. These pics are taken of cars I own in Grand Turismo 4. It allows you to take pics of your cars, either on the track, or premade sceneries... I had fun with this.
  23. After fiddling around for about a hour and a half, I came up with a solution to the exhaust for this car... I removed the custom headers it came with, and went back to the stocks... The rear axle was molded with the exhaust on it.. I had cut that way a long time ago, but saved the pipes. Im glad I did... I lined up where the pipe meets the manifold, and eye measured where I wanted to cut them for the new exhaust I had planned. Cut my 2 sections of pipe, and took my handy dandy lighter to it... MUHAHAHA. Carefully bent the pipe at the angles I wanted, and EUREKA! I made my own exhaust. I had a set of side pipes from god knows what car in the past, I added them under neath. No, there is no muffler.. felt a car this aggressive didnt need them... because the owner obviously didnt care about being "emission-friendly". I also remounted the motor back to the chassis to make sure I lined up everything the way I wanted. The following pics are completed exhaust, but not mounted to the chassis. I want to get some molding putty and lay it where I joined the straight pipe with my made pipe, to give it a smooth, one piece look. But I think yall will get the idea of where Im going. Motor re-married to its beloved chassis. And the overall concept of how the exhaust will be on this car, not mounted to the chassis.
  24. Thanks Doc! Ive noticed alot of your work on here... and it is so so good. I was intending this car to have the " No BS" attitude, just something a bit out of the ordinary that likes to tear up the street and be happy.
