Did a bit more work to the Goat today... think I solved the exhaust problem...but didnt take pics of it... I did however get a few snaps of the new clean bumpers I did. I found out by soaking chrome parts in bleach actually disolves the chrome... leaving the origional part underneath. No sanding and making sand lines in these parts! I did this, which is unusal for me, because the front and rear bumper of the car is actually going to be the same color(s) as the rest of the body. Here are the pics.

Its not the Wave Rider kit.. there was a actual S-10 lowrider model produced, Ive built a few before my now x wife trashed my collection. If memory serves me right.. it has the 4.3L in it... though I could be thinkin of the new S-10/ GMC Sonoma kit that was produced. Overall.. this kit brings back memories, and would love to get another one.

First time browsing the dio part of this forum, and this was the first project I clicked on... and... oh...my...goodness.... that is some SERIOUS talent you have there sir! My jaw was almost hitting my keyboard scrolling through the last 6 pages of this... and all I could really think of is 2 things. First... this is just too awesome! Second, "what the bloody hell did you do to that Edsel?!?!" (being as I am buildin the Edsel right now) This is certainly a piece of art my friend.... and your attention to detail is unrivaled. Ive wanted to build dios for quite some time now, and just never really got around to it. Looking at this... you inspired me. I was putting my son to sleep last night and was thinkin on how I could make a couple of the old jackstands, think I have it planned in my head. If I get the build right, Ill be more than happy to show you how I did it. I will be watching this build from now on.. because it is absolutely breath taking and stunning! EDITED: I went back through the pics, and noticed you did have jackstands. I was going to build more of the 4 sided, A frame types, oh well, still a fantastic job though!

Great choice in a kit.. I built this one years ago.. sadly it was destroyed along with 98% of my collection by my now X wife. In terms of your choice over airbrush/spray can.... there is nothin wrong with startin off with a can... it can teach you the fundamentals of how to apply paint evenly across a broad surface. I own a airbrush, but have never used it, and Ive always sprayed my kits. Tools. There is no such thing as the RIGHT tool... well... there is in certain applications... but all you really need is a good brush, paint, cleaner for your brush, lighting, and a nice surface to work on. As you progress, you will find your own tips and tricks to build your knowledge on.. IE, using something to create something or do something that the origional tool idea was not used for. (IE, Ive used toothpicks to paint raised white lettering on tires) And lastly, in your question about going back to paint parts.... if you think you can pop the parts apart without destroying them, then do so, paint, allow to throughly dry, then re assemble. (Ive done this numerous times in the past). Thats why this forum was created, to get inspiration, ideas, share your dreams, and your kits.

Bare Metal Foil. Nope, never used the stuff.... didnt know it existed till I joined this forum. Letters, I didnt know they made a photo etch kit.... I need to go back and do some more trimwork, as when I painted it, pulled the tape later... it got under, just tiny lil spots. In reference to the seam in the rear, I really dont know yet. I will have to sit and think that one out. The 2 tone job, I cheated on. I primered it all white, masked off the areas I wanted to remain white, and painted everything in flat black. Ill do all my detailing, then clearcoat the whole car.. and hopefully Presto! Gloss Black finish.

Nice... Ill have to try that on a scrap part to get the technique down right. DIY, out of curiousity, where in Mich are you located?
-
No this is not the stock hood... as Im using a blown motor in this.. the stock wont set... and the wash? I can try that.. what do you use to wipe off the spokes? And for a two tone... Im contemplating doing the front end a rich purple, much like the color on the dash, and have it fade to jet black in the rear. I just got to figure out how to do something like that.. as I have never used a airbrush.

At a point right now that Im irritated with my Pacer, so I decided to do some work to a 1967 Pontiac GTO. Ive had this kit about a year or so, tinker with it when the mood strikes me. I have wyld ideas for this car, and Im hoping that it turns out the way I want it. The body is completely devoid of all badges, markers, door handles, etc. Im going to get some filling puddy and fill in the line that simulates the rocker panels along the bottom of the car, to give it the "lower" look. (As if this car needs to be lowered anymore with the way I set the suspension.) Here is a few pics of the work in progress. Interior is completed. I didnt paint any of the reat seat, as Im trying the illusion that it is not there. A few shots of a mockup. Im hoping that when its completed, it will keep the stance it sets at. I like it aggressive. I hand painted the raised white lettering on the tires. I apologize in advance for such a long post. A few things I forgot to mention in the previous paragraph include, the front chrome and rear chrome bumper were stripped of chrome (I found out bleach likes chrome), allowing me that when I paint the car, the front and rear will be of body color. (Im attempting a two tone fade job) The windshield wipers and blades were also removed. Im having trouble with the motor and headers at the moment, as when I drop them into the bay, the headers will drag on the ground. But I think I have a solution in progress. Enjoy! Any and all comments are appreciated.

Love the color and the look over all, but do have to agree that the rims (and its not your painting choice but size) look kind of, neglected? It has nothing to do with you, its the tooling of the kit.

Nice.... Ill have to find some.. or make my printer work and print my own decals.
-
Wow, looks good man...where did you get the sponsor decals?
-
Ohhh! Shiny! Looks good!
-
Nice! That gives me a idea to try applying them to my own projects! Do you do it like normal, or is there a trick?
-
Very pretty! The image on the trunk, is that a decal? My wife thought it might have been one of those temp tattoos at first... but it does look awesome.

Update on the Pacer.... I got all the trimwork masked off, and got it painted... I didnt take pics yet. I noticed some extremely small lettering in the grill area, and in the bigwhite accent part, along with the word "Pacer" up on the front panel. How can I paint this stuff? Its REALLY fine work, even for me.

The Jagermeister title caught my attention... oh how I do love you Mr Jager, we shall meet again soon.

Lol, your lil quote is hilarious. Though Im a GM fan, its still funny.
-
That is freakin sweet! Nuff said.

Pulled the tape off the car, and wow.. it came out good. These shots are fresh, no trimwork done.. and I mocked up the rear end to show the big carrier for the continental kit that will be mounted.

Thanks.. the Deja Blue is such a easy color to work with... well, it was for me at least... Im very happy with the way it turned out.

Yep. The only hand tools and whatnot I would ever buy is Craftsman, Snap-On, or even some Stanley tools.... always had good work with those. -
Managed to get the roof and accent lines masked off last night... and it was nice enough today for me to get my base coat. Before and after pics of being coated. And here it is in black.

This stuff was given to me.. so I cant complain. The dremel should hold up to what I will end up using it for.... and the airbrush, well, I need to sit and teach myself how to use it.
