Woke up to a good day!

That it was! Had to get the dremel out, play with it, lol. The airbrush, I know nothing about. I dont know anything about airbrushes actually, aside that Ive always wanted one and have seen what they can do. I think the manufacturer is Cummins? I initally thought of the diesel motor company, but Im like yea, they arent gonna do that. Any info will be greatly appreciated on this item. I really want to start using one, and I need to locate some junk bodies to play with before I dive headfirst into one of my projects. -
Ever Model Your First Car?
Naydrus replied to Danno's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Sadly, they dont make a kit for my first car, which was a 1985 Cadillac Eldorado. It had the nasty HT4100 in it, I hated that motor. But I treated that car like a queen, even though it was a V8, I never hot rodded it. I actually had 2 Cadillacs, same year, same everything.. the second one is the one I spent the most money on. I was 18, fresh out of high school, no girlfriend and worked a steady 40 hour job... I sunk 5k in to that car, because at the time.. I loved it more than my parents. -
A gentleman that comes to visit my house once a week to work with my fiance about good job hunting skills was here yesterday on his weekly visit. He happened to notice the 1958 Edsel Pacer that Im working on sitting on the mantle to my fireplace, and said "I didnt know you built models." Told him Ive been building for 15 years, and come to find out... he was a modeler as well. Got to talkin, and he mentioned that he had a bunch of stuff sittin around collecting dust, and that he could drop it off here at the house the next day. Well, he held true to his word.... he shows up this morning with a good sized box, and well... Ill let the pictures tell the rest of the story.

I dig the colors. Subtle, yet clean and nice. Good job. I need to find a Cutlass for my collection.. as they are one of my favorite cars.

Nice lookin car.... Simple, but classy. Heres a few pics of the 67 I built... color is called Deja Blue.... it was a one coat laquer(not sure if I spelled it right)

Are We Model Hoarders?
Naydrus replied to mrmike's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I buy 'em because it drives my wife and my kids nuts. (Not really, but it sounded funny.) I buy 'em because it keeps me off the streets and out of bars and away from girlies of ill repute and stuff like that. Absolutely hilarious. I buy my kits because Im anti social and cant stand people in real life.. therefore I find hobbies and other interests that do not require dealing with people face to face. Im a model builder and a avid gamer.. so its always a toss up of.. do I want to paint that engine block, or log into a shooting game and blow people up with a Javelin rocket? -
Wow.... ok.... my 2cents. While the cars looks absolutely ridiculous, I do admite the engineering it takes to lift something like that... but they dont realize that they are VERY top heavy, and could tip on the slightest turn.... but oh well. And in reference to the bubble term.. I have one. I own a 93 Caprice LS... and everyone always asks me how much do I want for my bubble. Its not for sale.. STOP ASKING ME. Im not selling it to some kit so he can stuff 22" + rims, 5k worth of stereo equipment in it. If I ever get the time... this car is going into Hot Rod form. I see everyone goose these cars to idiotic levels... I think its time that someone taps the inner potential of a true road burner and make it come alive.. so when I pull up next to these lifted monstrosites, I can sit there, line lock the brakes and smoke my tires till they cant see.. then pull away, because you know they wont push those cars past 20mph, lol.

I know... Im tired of the cold and snow. Its all good for a while.. but when it starts taking up like 6 months of the year, it gets old. Puts a damper on alot of projects that I actually need to work on, lol.

I like the idea of the Hearse. Maybe its the just the morbid side of me.. but thats how I would roll it... fantastic job cutting and fusing the 2 bodies together. I look at alot of projects on this site.. and get rather disappointed at times, wondering if Ill ever be able to build like alot of you gentlemen.. but I try to be optimistic, and push foreward, thinking of new ideas, options, what can I do to push myself past my normal threshold on my projects. You guys do inspire me alot.

I just scrolled through 6 PAGES to see how this was turning out... and Im completely flabbergasted at what I saw. This is by far, one of the most detailed machines I have seen on this site yet. You sir, are a talent to be reckoned with. I dont have enough thumbs to raise in my congrats to you on this.. and can not wait to see the end result.

Oooh, looks nice! The paint looks like someone melted a big white candle and poured it over the body, giving it that smooth, unrippled look. I like this alot. And thats one hell of a powerplant... "imitates a cop" "Sir, I dont think that is quite legal with that blower."
-
Be shocked... my fiance actually does 95% of the sanding on the bodies for my cars. She uses this 1 inch by 1 inch by 4 inch nail block, from Sallys Beauty Supply.(She loves to do her own nails) You can get them in all different grits, and its alot cheaper than sand paper. Alot of my cars are modified, so she goes through, takes off door handles, emblems, side markers, etc. She does a good job of it too.

Finally.... rolling chassis! The only thing not included in these shots are the actual shocks, as they are still drying. The stance and the alignment came out perfect on this one. Im now at a point where production on this car might have to slow down, due to cold weather. I can not really work on this body untill it warms up. (Stupid Michigan Weather)I also apologize, as my camera is possessed, it does what it wants, when it wants. Some shots come out great, others look like poop.

You know... I was sittin there... not 15 minutes ago, from the time this was posted.. thinkin... I wonder how a custom Edsel would look? Lol. I know for a fact I could EASILY lower the front end.. it has the old school spindles, kingpins, whatever you want to call them.. I could just turn em upside down and mount them with the tires.. therefore dropping the front end. Rear end... would be a bit trickier, but I could figure it out. Im hoping to post pics of the completed undercarriage in about a hour, so stay tuned!

Sadly, my tools are in short supply, as I have a nice xacto kit, couple pairs of hemostats, this poker thing, I have no idea what to call it. No dremel, no airbursh, kids soak up alot of my extra money. But I make it happen with what I have.
-
Very nice.... is that a blue color Im seeing? Or maybe its just me eyes.
-
Thanks for pointin out the speedo! I didnt know it was there. Ive only seen one Edsel in real life, and never got a chance to see the dash. Ill be sure to correct that as soon as I can. Think Im going to come up with a wire kit for the distrubtor..... I see everyone else do it, I might as well. Though dont have the cash to buy one of those pre made ones, so Ill have to make my own. And no.. no criticism goin on.. it was somethin you knew, that I didnt, and was kind to point it out.

Are We Model Hoarders?
Naydrus replied to mrmike's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hoarding? I dont think so. Im rather young compared to some of the other members of this site (no offense gentlemen) and while I only have 9 kits being built, I dont think we are. Considering the rarity of being able to find kits anymore. I remember walking into Meijers or Wal Mart and they would have a whole shelf dedicated to kits, and now, you cant even buy supplies from these stores. Here in my town, the only 2 places to find kits are Hobby Lobby and the local R/C shop. If we didnt have the internet, I do think this hobby would die out. So I say, as long as it doesnt over run your house, there is absolutely no shame in obtaining kits.. the more rare, the better. I know some kits are worth $$$ to die hard collectors today, and its good to see that people do care about this hobby. -

Nice! -
I know... she is currently on the East Coast dealing with a family emergency, but I have no doubt that she has her eyes peeled for another kit. (As if I dont have enough, 9 builds currently, why not add more to my stress, I mean, job load?) Lol.
