LDO Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Looking for something about .040"-.050" across. I don't want to pay for metal. I'll need 100 minimum. Where can I find something like that?
Terry Sumner Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Grandt Line Products. They are sold in model train shops everywhere and better hobby shops. If you can't get to a hobby shop you can go online to the source here... http://www.grandtline.com/ You get a whole bunch of them on a tree and they have various sizes.
jbwelda Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 also al's resin (sorry i am spacing on actual name of the firm...Ma's Resin maybe?) sells these cool sheets of bolt heads, stud heads and all kinds of hardware in resin for very nice price. i use them for 1/8 mostly but there are many that are small enough for 1/24 work.
tabsscale1 Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 You could also get some evergreen hex rod and make your own from that.
LDO Posted March 31, 2011 Author Posted March 31, 2011 You could also get some evergreen hex rod and make your own from that. Not consistent enough. There will be 92 of them very close together. I don't want any lop-sided bolt heads or differences in height.
John Pol Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Hi Lee: Go to scalehardware they have all sorts of rivets, bolts, nuts and washers different sizes. John Pol
Mooneyzs Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I was going to recommend Scale Hardware as well since they sell various sized for about $10.00 to $13.00 for a pack of 25. I recently ordered a good size order for my 1/16 scale funny car build and am real happy with their product. But not sure who to recommend for plastic bolt heads.
Pete J. Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Buy a hexagonal punch and die set and make your own. Sounds like the cost you are going to pay for plastic for the amount that you need will more than cover the cost of the punch and when you are done you will have a tool make plenty more when you need them. cnaind Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 also al's resin (sorry i am spacing on actual name of the firm...Ma's Resin maybe?) sells these cool sheets of bolt heads, stud heads and all kinds of hardware in resin for very nice price. i use them for 1/8 mostly but there are many that are small enough for 1/24 work. Thanks Bill. $2 gets you 208 resin bolts/nuts/studs. Shipping is $2 for up to 8 sheets.
LDO Posted April 1, 2011 Author Posted April 1, 2011 Wow. Lots of good advice. I may have to try a couple of different sources. Thank you.
