Evil Appetite Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Does anyone else have this problem? I don't use it very much..but when I do come to use it...it's dried solid. The cap is on tight as far as I can tell. Is there any way to preserve or extend it's life?
moparfarmer Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Put it in the fridge door. It will still work and wont freeze or go solid. Just stays as a liquid. Have had a gap in the fridge for at least 6 months and its still liquid.
Mark Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Get a brand that has a good bottle with a snap-on cap, like Loctite. After each application, wipe the bottle's nozzle clean and snap the cap back on. When not in use, make sure the bottle is standing up straight, and doesn't get knocked over allowing the glue to flow out of the opening into the cap. That, or buy the cheap stuff that comes in the small tubes, several for a dollar. Those are meant to be used right away once opened.
jbwelda Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 if you do what Mark says with Zap brand super glue, you will have the same result. clean the tip regularly and always double cap it (the inner cap and the outer cap). and keep it in the freezer like mopar says. the problem is if its humid where you live it reacts with the CA and hardens it, so in the freezer and using the caps properly keep the moisture out.
Mooneyzs Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 As the others have mentioned here, I keep mine in the freezer and when I need it, I pull it out let it defrost and its ready to use. When done put back in freezer.
Evil Appetite Posted April 1, 2011 Author Posted April 1, 2011 Thanks guys, I'll keep'em in the fridge.
Scale-Master Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 New unopened bottles go from the store to the fridge at my house, unless I need it right away... Wait for it to become room temp before opening the bottle. Moisture is the enemy. If you live in a humid area the life of a bottle can be compromised. If you want to store an opened bottle in the fridge, seal it in a zip-lock bag first. Again, let it acclimate to the ambient temp before opening the bag.
