Lanny Haas Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Looking for who makes this tool for sanding the tread on tires, or removing the molding line, kind of looks like this crude drwing. you chuck it up in a drill.
wisdonm Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 I just use those expanding rubber arbors used with sanding drums. You can get them at ACE Hardware or some home supply companies. Some of the ones used with Dremel type tools will work also.
MikeMc Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 A machine screw, with nut and a couple of washers... chuck it up, sandwich the tire between the washers, tighten nut and spin tires about 50 cents in parts
casassa Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 At one time you could purchase one from Mike's Scale Speed Shop.
shucky Posted April 1, 2011 Posted April 1, 2011 Yeah, you can easily make this by visiting your local hardware store. I made a few that work wonderfully. Cost? Like $1.00 or so each. Various washers and plastic sleeves allow you to work with different sized tires as well. I can post a pic of mine when I get home if anyone cares to see.
Mike Kucaba Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 It was (is)? called the" Tire Scuffing tool" and was indeed sold by Mike's Scale Speed Shop. He has a website and may even be a MCM advertiser.
Foxer Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 I've seen this but just use sanding sticks in my hands. But I did look and found this post on another site on making the homemade version ...
