Just curious, was this originally the factory-stock version and retooled into the stock car , or was this version totally different from the stock kit?

Indeed there was a "stock" (kinda) version....it was one of the period 2 in 1 customs....it had weird frond end treatment and custom parts....Matt

This'd be the stock version... every one I've seen has been a bit out of my price range, so I can't compare 'em side to side!

i've got a modifed Matador X and a stock '75 in my builtups.... AMT did the stock matador coupe for 3 or 4 years running. the X kit has the coffin nose but the rest of the kit is stock parts. the Bobby Allison nascar kit i have never had, so i can't speak for what it has in common with the stock kit at all.

AMC managed pretty well for a couple of years in Nascar.... hard to imagine from a company that fizzled out selling Renaults.

As the builder of that box art model I can attest to the fact it is not a factory stock or street car. But the body looked to be a modified version of my personal 1975 annual built-up.
