Dr. Cranky Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Nothing special or fancy about this one other than it's an old model that I don't know if you guys had seen it . . . first time Doctor Cranky felt that he was getting the hang of using rattle cans . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted May 1, 2011 Author Posted May 1, 2011 Thank you. The paint was Duplicolor which still has some nice colors out there . . . You know this kit is one of those that has few parts, but the truck builds into a fairly nice replica with some custom parts too.
RodneyBad Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Great looking truck but something doesn't look right. It's sooo Clean and fresh looking
justin2020 Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 This has always been a favorite of mine. You truly make them all look so easy t build. Add another kit to the shopping list. Looks Great!!
Harry P. Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Nice color combo. I love Duplicolor paint, there are some cool colors available.
Danno Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Just a note: It can't be "box stock" as those wheels/tires weren't in the kit. Were they? Was there a donk issue of this kit that I missed? Just sayin ...
ajulia Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 Hola Doc!! That blue looks close to a anodized metal!! way to go wit layin down that color! As always Doc good stuff!!! peace ajulia
Chuck Most Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Just a note: It can't be "box stock" as those wheels/tires weren't in the kit. Were they? Was there a donk issue of this kit that I missed? Just sayin ... The Rides Magazine issue came with those wheels. Aside from that and the decals, it was pretty much the regular '72 kit. Very cool model, Dr.!
Dr. Cranky Posted May 2, 2011 Author Posted May 2, 2011 Chuck, bless your great memory, you helped improve mine. Yes, indeed, I think this vehicle did come with these wheels thrown in the mix. I particularly didn't like the wheels at first, but then tried them and liked them. Thanks for the kind words, everyone. And, Harry, I like Duplicolor paints still, and use them every once in a while . . .
Eshaver Posted May 2, 2011 Posted May 2, 2011 Uh delete the Bling on the wheels , keep everthing else ....... great build ! Ed Shaver
bsoder Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Pretty slick !...Duplicolor has always been my "preferred" choice for rattle can since it's lacquer, and hopefully find a store that keeps a good selection
Danno Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 The Rides Magazine issue came with those wheels. Aside from that and the decals, it was pretty much the regular '72 kit. Very cool model, Dr.! Okay, that works! I didn't know they had released it as a Rides kit. That makes it cool, and I learned something new today. Thanks
Dr. Cranky Posted May 3, 2011 Author Posted May 3, 2011 Thanks, my friends . . . I don't know, Ed, lately I've been in a BLING kind of mood. I think 60s and 70 big-boat vehicles look nice with big tires and chromed wheels . . . But you know, like everything else in the car world, it's a matter of what you like.
