dannyi Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 (edited) Found this wheel in my stash and like the fact it's a deep steel wheel but have no idea where it came from. Any ideas on make or model it belongs to? Edited May 3, 2011 by dannyi
diymirage Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 one possibility is the modified stocker car hauler kit i think they came as optional wheels on the 5some ford pickup but they may also have belonged to the spare tires for the race car that didnt come with the set (just the spares) a second option might be the DOH roscoes cruiser, that has some nice deep steelies
george 53 Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Danny, it MIGHT be one of the wheels from AMT'S Mid 70's Blazer kit. It came with deep wheels like those.
scalenut Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 I have some from an amt mopar kit ,, can't remember what kit tho

Nick Winter Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 It's not from the Monaco or '53 Ford Mod stocker hauler kits. Nick
billb Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Danny, it MIGHT be one of the wheels from AMT'S Mid 70's Blazer kit. It came with deep wheels like those. The wheels in the Blazer kit had 6 lug wheels IIRC....
dannyi Posted May 3, 2011 Author Posted May 3, 2011 ...thanks fellas, I appreciate the info. If I'm not mistaken this wheel has been in my stash box since the late 60's so I have no idea what it belongs to. It looks like for now it's going to be called "deep dish steel wheel"...thanks again guys.....
scale trucker Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 looks like the wheels in amt 57 chevy pepper shaker..
Erik Smith Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 AMT 49 Ford has deep steel wheels, 5 lug - but yours look a little different.
randx0 Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I think it is from one of the revell tri five chevys probably the 57.what does the back look like?
dannyi Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 I think it is from one of the revell tri five chevys probably the 57.what does the back look like? ..it had a narrow tube with a hole for a metal axle but I removed that to cast it....
randx0 Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 ..it had a narrow tube with a hole for a metal axle but I removed that to cast it.... well if it was originally chrome I would say amt/lindberg 34 ford pickup,if it was white plastic I think the original 63'revell 57 chevy. I don't have the 57 chevy kit to confirm .I will check the 34 later if I can find it.
diymirage Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 ..it had a narrow tube with a hole for a metal axle but I removed that to cast it.... that sounds like MPC to me wasnt the monaco i mentioned before MPC ?
Eshaver Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Almost sounds like one of A M T's 57 Ford fairlane re- issues . Several A M T kits had them . Ed Shaver
dannyi Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 ...I apologize guys, completely slipped my mind...it was chrome. I threw it in with a bunch of other parts I was de-chroming awhile back. I'm trying my hand at casting some older wheels and rims. If it's a model specific item it would be good to know, but I guess I can call it "deep dish steel wheel" if anything......
Draggon Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I just cked the chrome tree on my AMT 57 Chevy and it looks to be the same. If you have a pic of the back side I could confirm it. Beautiful wheels, eh?
dannyi Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 ...I think 57' Chevy is it. I have a partial kit that I got in a trade and sure enough this is what I found.....the back sides are a bit different but other then that their the same. ..thanks for all the help guys...I knew I came to the right place!
