Folks, my mother has always been very supportive of my hobbies. When I bred and raised canaries as a hobby, she helped me during the winter months, and now that I build model cars, she's always reminding me that I have yet to build her her dream car car, which surprised the heck out of me what it was and what she wanted. A 1910 jalopy, so I am on my way there to take her a little gift! :(

Enjoy the weekend, and stay tuned in . . .

Ha! I'm sure you will. Actually that would make a great little ride for EYEGORE, who is the morgue-runner for the Lab-RAT-ory.

Very cool; I hope your mom has a great day! My mom was actually a pretty good model builder; she was better than my dad. She probably had more influence on me as a modeler. A few months ago, I bought a Glencoe kit set from Squadron. It's of a Chinese Junk and a Viking ship. I think they are old Ideal molds. The reason I got them was that she had built the same models back in the '50s, and were given to me by my grandmother. They were quite nicely painted and assembled! (Before she was married, she was a teacher, and also taught crafts in summer programs.) I plan to complete them soon, as close to the way she built hers. Unfortunately, since I'm disabled, I won't be able to see her for Mother's Day, but should be able to before the month is out. She's in a nursing home now. I will finish the kits as a gift and reminder of how much I love her and the talents she passed on to me. Happy Mother's Day to all moms!

To all of you who are lucky enough to still have your mom around... enjoy the day with her if possible. My mom died in 2006, so Mother's Day ain't what it used to be for me.

My point is, life is short. If your mom is still around, make sure you take the time to see her, call her, send her a card... however you can make contact. :)

You are so right, Harry. My dad passed in 1997, so it's hard . . . but you have to enjoy what you've got while you still have it.

I agree too, I lost my dad in 1990 when I was only 14 years old and my older brother two years later as a result of a tractor trailer accident (then I started driving them 6 years later :) ), and lost mom in 1996.

Wow, that's great. People are living longer these days, so it's a matter of finding the time to spend more quality time, that's what family is all about.

What Harry said. I lost both parents before my 30th birthday. Appreciate every minute I had with them and miss them dearly. Shout out to all the Moms this weekend and cherish your time with them. My parents too were very supportive of my hobbies, especially model car building. Good times Dr. Cranky ... very nice.

My Mom is not only with us, she has run a hobby shop for 35 years.

A hobby shop specializing in Model Cars!

She has always been very supportive of my building, (even if she wasn't sure what I was making...)

I have built at least six models for her, of cars she has owned, she is not a builder.

Sadly, (insert selfish intentions,) she is closing up that shop and retiring this year so she can do whatever she wants.

Yes, I realize how lucky I am to have a Mom like I do on several accounts. Happy Mother's Day to all Mother's!

I'll be headed home on Friday to spend a week with my 85 year old mother (she's only a little over 2hours away). Her favorite car is a white '63 slit window Vette and while I've not built a white '63 yet I've built her several '63's. I did build her favorite aircraft though, a natural metal C-130 Hercules.

She's been very supportive of my modelling hobby all my life, allowing me to store unbuilt models in her basement,I still have display cases in the family room and even helping to man (woman)? model displays.
