Ben Posted May 5, 2011 Author Posted May 5, 2011 (edited) what would the underside be like? one whole piece or axles separate? jeff Hey Jeff, the chassis has all the detail molded in place. (one whole piece) The builder could cut out the engine and trans and use the engine and trans from a kit if they wanted more detail. It would basically be a van promo. Edited May 5, 2011 by Ben
evilone Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I would be very interested. And come on guys you forgot a ambulance, coroner van, and a body retrieval van
diymirage Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I would be very interested. And come on guys you forgot a ambulance, coroner van, and a body retrieval van is this in bad taste? (if it is ill remove it) as for the badge decals, might i make a suggestion? im my opinion the best way to do this is to print a black rectangle with white letters on clear decal paper because the white wont print it will show the colour of whatever you apply the decal over and this will be...a think strip of BMF (my first attempt at this was the badge on the door of this dodge which reads "426 HEMI RAM"
Jon Cole Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I would be very interested. And come on guys you forgot a ambulance, coroner van, and a body retrieval van Body retrieval is now done via Blackhawk chopper.
evilone Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Body retrieval is now done via Blackhawk chopper. lol then the guy up the street got ripped off he was hauled away in a caprice wagon
highway Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I would be very interested. And come on guys you forgot a ambulance, coroner van, and a body retrieval van Ben mentioned that in his first post!! I did forget the coroner idea, good idea for one of the E-150s!
Ben Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 Man, is that one for hauling deceased basketball players???
crazyjim Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Sounds like a great idea to offer a van, but how much is this thing going to cost?
Ben Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 Sounds like a great idea to offer a van, but how much is this thing going to cost? Hey Jim, I have no idea as that will be up to the caster. We are talking about making this a full detail kit rather than a curbside as well.
Agent G Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Wait until you have to move the 300+ pound corpse of a not so recently deceased person, from the TOP floor of the high rise projects, to the morgue. You'll love that van then. G
2000-cvpi Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I like the idea. I would be interested in one. The one idea that had been forgotten is the "free candy†van.
Ben Posted May 7, 2011 Author Posted May 7, 2011 Wait until you have to move the 300+ pound corpse of a not so recently deceased person, from the TOP floor of the high rise projects, to the morgue. You'll love that van then. G I can tell by your smiley face that you really enjoy your work so far be it from me to step on any toes. I'll let you take care of alllllll of them! Really, it's the least I can do!
Ben Posted May 7, 2011 Author Posted May 7, 2011 Hey guys, the van was just packed up to be sent to Eric for casting. I disassembled it and stripped the paint off so the detail will be nice and crisp! The body is very detailed and really accurate!!! There were about 55 piece's total but that is including the metal axle for the rear, the two metal axle pins for the front wheels (it steers) and five little screws that hold the chassis plate to the body. Theres a separate floor piece with all the floor detail molded in place, two front door panels, dash, steering column, steering wheel and two nice bucket seats with separate arm rests for the interior. The wheels will be the 15" four slot type with the dog dish hub caps, exactly like the ones in the previous pictures of the real van. Headlight, front turn signal lenses, taillight lenses are all separate pieces. It has two nice little side mirrors and two separate windshield wipers. Front bumper, rear bumper and grille are all separate pieces as well. Should be a really cool kit with hundreds of possibilities!!!!!
Ben Posted May 7, 2011 Author Posted May 7, 2011 Eric and I were talking about possibly turning this into a more complete kit but after looking at some AMT Ford van kits that I have, they are a lot shorter than this van. I was hoping I could use one of their chassis and an engine and trans from a modern Ford pickup. This chassis plate has a lot of detail and fits the body perfectly with no gaps between the body and floor! It would be so easy to just get out the Dremel and cut away the engine area, drivestaft area and rear axle if you want to add more detail. Also, this way, it keeps the kit price lower as there's fewer parts to mold and cast.
Jon Cole Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 I want to build a model of my employer's '02 handicap transport. I had the die-cast, shipped it off to a certain caster. Wish I knew then what I know now about his reputation. Never saw it again. I think I bought another one, but it's downstairs in the jungle somewhere. Guess I will carve a buck for the hightop, and vac-u-form it. That was a nice van. Had a bench in the back; but the center was open for wheelchair tie-downs. The power lift ramp was a real rattler tho.
