stevez Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I was at the website, and noticed a new 41 Willys pickup body, 40 Willys body/hood and 41 flip nose body. Any one bought one of these or existing bodies?
jeffb Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 all three of those have been in smbc's catalog for a few years. i havent seen the drag city kits in person, but i do know the smbc stuff is first rate
Matt T. Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 I bought the '41 pickup cab at NNL East (amongst a bunch of other Drag City items). Ed mastered it himself and it's the first correctly proportioned cab, plus it fits on the new Revell Maz/SW&C chassis. It's unlike any other out there, and it looks "right." Drag City does top notch resin casting - highly recommended! (If you buy a pickup cab, ask about the decals he's got available for it too.)
Steven Zimmerman Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Race Motor Replicas also offers a couple of Willys bodys in resin. 2 41 bodies are offered based on the R/M street rod kit. One has a chopped top with a pie cut hood and the leading edge of the hood/nose laid back, with re-radiused wheel wells. The top is chopped in a way that the 'stock' front and rear glass from the kit can be used with no alterations. The other 41 body is a roadster, with a laid back windshield, using the glass from the R/M prowler. The original hood has been pie-cut,nose laid back, molded into the body, and a new hood has been designed to fit in a smaller opening. Also available are 2 '33 Willys bodies, both a 3 window coupe and a roadster. Both have full fenders,a non-recessed trunk area, hood sides molded into the body, and a pie cut flat hood with the blower opening molded in. Both come with resin grilles, and are designed along the lines of the 1/1 aftermarket'glass bodies, rather than stock.
stevez Posted May 13, 2011 Author Posted May 13, 2011 Just got the Willys pick up from Drag City Casting and it's a great smooth casting with excellent drip lines, door panels, no warpage. Blows the others away (I've got 2 others), great job Ed. Steve Z. Maybe a chopped version?
