Dr. Cranky Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 I would love to one day see this model in person, and I know I missed it at the NNL East this year, but like Jim "Hollywood" Ferandez's "BAD PENNY," Shannon's "RED BARON" is a model that will live in model building history for all time. Enjoy:
sjordan2 Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Well, that's a very creative and masterful piece of modeling. I might say the same about the video; I haven't seen all your videos but it sure would be nice to see some actual moving video in addition to stills; that would truly add dimension to this kind of stuff.
Dr. Cranky Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 Skip, thank you, you bring up a very good point. I think in the coming years what I am going to do is start visiting builders at their benches and then doing showcases of their models and an interview. Right now the distance (and resources) are limited, but I think it will happen. Maybe what I can do is buy an extra HD flip and mail it around the country . . . hum, ideas, ideas, ideas . . .
trogdor Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's much better than that chrome helmeted mess from Tom Daniels
Dr. Cranky Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 Rick, I agree with you, but then again those are not as detailed and mind-blowing! I think even the Big Daddy Roth stuff had its charm for the times they were produced, and you know the real stuff was cutting edge. I think model builders are always pushing the envelope and Shannon Mopar Lady is one of those!
sjordan2 Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 (edited) I was thinking that it might be difficult to keep a video camera steady when getting different shots of a model, but it occurred to me that you might plant a camera on a tripod and put the model on a turntable, where you could shoot it from different heights and angles as you moved around it. Dr. Cranky Posted May 10, 2011 Author Posted May 10, 2011 I've done that very same thing in a few videos and it works, but I think all you can take is about a minute and then you might just get dizzy!
