RodneyBad Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 O Yaaa!! Looks like ya gonna need some bigger wheels and tires for it tho. Can't wait to see how this turns out..
mannyclub Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Hey Bruce, That is cool, and doing it as a pick up would be cool! Ill be checking this one out.. Manny
george 53 Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Now THAT would be somethin you wouldn't see everyday! This'll be interesting to watch come together!
randx0 Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 If that body is the same one I have ,the amt c 1500 pick up cab lines up pretty well with the top kick and would make adding an interior a little easier .
Space Cowboy Posted May 28, 2011 Author Posted May 28, 2011 Got a lot done. Added to the cab and it has a 72 Chevy bed with fender exstetions........................... Lots more coming soon..........................
RodneyBad Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Very Interesting. I'm liking the looks of it already.
Space Cowboy Posted June 1, 2011 Author Posted June 1, 2011 Got the cab primered and a new dually bed................... More coming soon..........................
RodneyBad Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Cab is looking Great, Got any Big Rig wheels for it ? Or using lil 1 Ton wheels?
Space Cowboy Posted June 2, 2011 Author Posted June 2, 2011 Got it set up as a dually but it needs to be higher........................ More coming soon......................
stewart Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Great job space cowboy. I love the looks of those old GMC's. STewart
mikemodeler Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 That is coming along nicely but I agree that it needs to sit higher. Right now it looks like a pickup with a Topkick front end conversion. Maybe the chassis from the Ford Louisville would have it sitting right.
Porky Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 That is coming along nicely but I agree that it needs to sit higher. Right now it looks like a pickup with a Topkick front end conversion. Maybe the chassis from the Ford Louisville would have it sitting right. I have been messing around with a GMC Top Kick Crew Cab and the amt/ertl Ford Louisville / LN8000 chassis seems to work pretty good under it but have only mocked it up so far so there might be a issue or two the further along it gets but it seems to work. The wheels and tires from the kit might be a bit big, maybe. I got the cab from Tim Sherman at All Seasons Collectable Toys, they came down and stayed with us a few days last week and he brought along the molds for it and let me cast myself one. He did say that he makes some 19.5 inch low profile tires and wheels for it, might end up getting some of those for it.
tooltas Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 find a older small scale 1/34 truck an use the wheels it did a low tow or look up trucking com they had a bad to bone topkick that was green it call hulk back in 2008
Space Cowboy Posted June 5, 2011 Author Posted June 5, 2011 I added some 4 wheel drive axels and custom wheels. Next I will try 1 ton wheels...... More coming soon..................
highway Posted June 5, 2011 Posted June 5, 2011 Bruce, I know you are still trying to find that "just right" look, but I'd like to offer a few (hopefully ) helpful suggestions. First, is there a way to lower the cab down on the frame a little more? I know you need to keep the body line straight between the cab and bed, but in my opinion I think if you could lower both to just around where the two posts on the bed widen from the round part, then use some tubing the same size as what is left to fill the rest of the gap, it would still have the look you're working for. Second, I think the one ton wheels would just be to small, the normal Top Kick has either 19.5 inch or 22.5 inch wheels. If you have any 1/32 scale big rigs you could sacrifice for the wheels, I think those would be better. If you can find them somewhere, there are 1/32 scale diecast trucks from a company called New Ray that have nice wheels and tires, and I've seen them at some places for less than $10. Even though it not the best pic, this is the closest pic I have of a New Ray truck and the wheels. I'm not sure, but I may even have an extra set, but I'm not 100% sure. I'll check for you if you're interested. Keep up the good work, this is getting very interesting!
Space Cowboy Posted June 6, 2011 Author Posted June 6, 2011 I got a set of 1 ton and some 22" wheels...................... More coming soon............
stewart Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Do the 22s. Those look great. They fill the wheel wells very nicely. I think you should drop the truck just a tad though so that its not quite so high off the wheels. Nice work so far. STewart
Space Cowboy Posted June 7, 2011 Author Posted June 7, 2011 Got it all primered and it looks like I will be using the semi wheels......................... More coming soon..............
RodneyBad Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Those Semi Wheels look perty good. Truck looks good in Primer. Looks like ya need to cut those Lil Pegs off the bottom of the bed to get the bed to drop on the frame.
Space Cowboy Posted June 9, 2011 Author Posted June 9, 2011 Got the tilt nose working.............................. More coming...............................
Lownslow Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 that thing is gonna be such a beast i cant wait to see it finished
RodneyBad Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Holy Popcorn Cowboy!!. I was just thinking How surprised I was you didn't cut the hood open Ya must've heard me thinking (I never do :D ) . Nice work still.
