ismaelg Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Hello, Back in late 2006 I went thru a little car modeling slump. I'm now getting back up to speed, but I'll do one more "practice run" before getting back to my beloved Corvettes. Having finished the GT3, I'm in a Porsche mode This is the Fujimi Cayman S. I did a brief description in the New Kits section back in January. I really and honestly plan to do a box stock build out of this. Here's the body out of the box: Yikes! Bright red plastic. The concern is bleed thru, especially since I'll use a light color. The key to fight bleeding? patience and prep work. In Primer. Only problem so far: The rear spoiler was broken. I glued it back and of course need to sand and prep the seam. Panel lines were a bit shallow so I spent a lot of time deepening them. Notice the difference between the yet to be done gas filler door and the door trim. Next: More primer and sanding. Once the primer is perfect, then and only then I'll work with the color. Thanks,
Marc @ MPC Motorsports Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 I'll be watching this one Iz. Several guys were "fighting" over one at the hobby shop where our club meets. Cool car and should be a cool model. What color are you planning?
Gray Smith Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 I like it already and its only in primer, ever since getting to sit in one at a carshow not too long ago, and more recently this weekend at a local dealer(ferrari dealer at that) I've fallen in love with them, I like the fact that porsche designed the Cayman with light weight in mind instead of raw power...makes for a better balanced car to me, I'll be watching this one. Gray
ismaelg Posted April 11, 2007 Author Posted April 11, 2007 What color are you planning? Marc, It'll be yellow. I'm still debating the interior color between light tan, dark tan or the reddish terracota they have...... Thanks,
Zoom Zoom Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 I'm looking forward to seeing more of this one! Great tip on rescribing the body; I'm sure you noticed the strangeness around the rear quarter glass where you remove the mold line. I haven't worked on my kit yet, but I stripped and reshot a silver Hot Wheels Cayman S into white & gave it to Wayne on Sunday. I used a trick to get it out and back into the package so it looks like it came this way:

Ray Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 I really like how you mounted the mirrors for priming. Thanks for the help. Love your models, Ray
ismaelg Posted April 11, 2007 Author Posted April 11, 2007 That's too cool! 8) Did you put Jose's "NO WAY" license plate on it? Unfortunately no. When I thought about it it was too late......
