Aaronw Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 I've never had an issue with Krylon, Rustolium, Plasticote, or Duplicolor primers. You definately want to prime the plastic though, you don't want to use these paints (other than the primer) direct on plastic. I've had good results with all 4 brands, but I prefer Krylon because it dries very fast, I can usually handle the parts in 10-15 minutes. I've had Rustolium still be tacky after 30-40 minutes. I've had really good luck with Tamiya, but with a can less than 1/2 the size, and twice the price I only use it for colors I can get otherways.
robdot Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 when you say krylon, do you mean the stuff labeled indoor outdoor or the fusion stuff? i only see one krylon primer and it says indoor outdoor on it. is that it? can i put fusion over it?
Chris guthro Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 The best paint ive used for models are the duplicolor line with a good coat of primer and clear coat under and over the color. Best money youll spend if you want an amazing finish, covers good too!
robdot Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 im really interested in finding a 12 oz can that would work. it would really help me a lot if you guys could be more specific about what your using 8^) for example. do you know how many different kinds of duplicolor there are? i see very few colors in the lacquers. only white , black and silver. are you using the enamels?

Best money youll spend if you want an amazing finish, covers good too! Hi there, I stumbled across this forum looking for a review on the 2010 Mustang kit. I am an avid modeller of just about anything that can be reproduced in scale. I have a 68 and 69 Charger on my work bench right now. Chris, when you say you lay down a coat of primer, then a coat of clear, color, then clear am I right on that? What is the drying time between coats? Rob
