Got the new Batmobile in the mail today. So far looks pretty good but the red pinstripes are almost a flat paint. I need to figure a safe easy way to shine them up.

I'd also say clearcoat, but avoid the automotive types! If the paint they're using is the same as what RC2 used on its predec kits, it will melt the paint. (Ask me how I came across THAT little tidbit! :) )

No Fair, No Braggin.

I'm still waiting for one but not as long has some others have. :)

I'd think Future would work well for Glossing up the Pinstripping..

I know there are several builders who like to do their own fantasy Batmobiles. This would make a good starting point for a steampunk version

Your best bet is pledge with futureshine. You can shoot it directly through an airbrush without thinning, or simply brush it on. It's self-leveling so no brushmarks will show.

I'm dipping mine in Future and turning it upside-down to level-off. It will be nice and even that way.

I'd like to build a version of the Batmobile as if the Joker had stolen it and rebuilt it in a manner more befitting his own style.

The deluxe glue kit by the way, will have the parts and decals to do the Penguin's birdmobile.

It's Just full of Surprises

Well a Penguin figure be coming with it too? ;)

Don't you dare!!!! :D

Truth be told, I'm a bit suprised that never happened on the series. Then again, I haven't seen every episode... perhaps it did?

Hmmmm.... Penguinmobile, anyone? B)

The deluxe kit is slated to have the parts and decals necessary to make Penguin's "birdmobile".

The penguin outlines for the doors and the umbrella? B)

Does anyone have photos of this kit's contents? I've seen Futurabat's thread, but that's a test shot (right?) of the glue kit.

I was going to say mine doesn't look like that (just got my snap kit yesterday...).

Running through the kit parts now, if I think about it I'll snap a few pix. Trying to see what I need to have put together before I dip it in Future. Already see places where the flat black will need to be repainted when I do it.

i saw these at the LHS today, snap version, they look pretty darn cool and i might grab one myself.... the Futura Batmobile is among the many TV/Movie cars i want for my collection..... along with a companion Black Beauty.

Hmmm...I see chassis parts for the old Revell Futura. And those mags would look great on just about any pre- eighties vehicle.

I think it's been stated that the turbine engine will be included in a later "deluxe" version of the kit.

I was just kidding... obviously the real Batmobile had no jet engine.

But if the "Deluxe" kit will include the jet engine, that brings up an interesting question: Is the model supposed to be an accurate replica of the real Batmobile? If so it would have a traditional automobile engine under the hood, like the real car had.

Or is the model supposed to be a replica of the "fantasy car" the "real" Batmobile was supposed to represent? That is, a car with a jet engine?

Or does the fact that the Batmobile is a "cartoon character" in the first place make this all pointless to begin with?

Ooooohhh.... my head hurts......

Actually, it supposedly had an "atomic-powered turbine" engine which I don't think is quite the same thing as a jet engine. I don't think that would have possible in real life, either.

Ok, professor...

I used the term "jet" engine as a generic term for a turbine engine. Most jets are powered by turbofan engines, or "jet" engines (yes, a pure "jet engine" works differently).

Do we know it was an "atomic-powered" turbine for sure? My recall is that the car had atomic batteries, but the engine was just referred to as a "turbine" when they started the car.

I'm sure there's proably someone on here that's got the shop manual for the car, and can set us straight!

Didn't Batman and Robin go through that special start-up sequence... "batteries to turbine... turbine to speed..."

Remember how sometimes Alfred had to play Batman in certain circumstances? And nobody ever seemed to notice that "Batman" suddenly had a gray moustache???

The quote from the show is " Atomic batteries to power. Turbines to speed. Roger, ready to move out".
