Mr Core Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Finished Revell's BMW 507 today. I had a lot of problems with this one, but in the end I'm pretty happy with the result. Here"s the finished product
Jim Gibbons Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Very nice! I like your color choices on this. The 507 is such a beautiful car.
Monty Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 I've been thinking about getting this kit beause I like the 1:1 car so much. What problems did you have with yours? Looks like it turned out well despite whatever issues it may have had. Way to go!
Mr Core Posted June 15, 2011 Author Posted June 15, 2011 Thank you guys I've been thinking about getting this kit beause I like the 1:1 car so much. What problems did you have with yours? Well first of all I had to redo the paintjob twice (my bad) I don't know if that is the cause, but many of my plated parts didn't fit very well. Therefore I decided to cut the body to make them fit and, of course, it broke. I also have a floating wheel. Checked the chassis but didn't find any mistakes I made. The major issue is the poor fiting of the plated parts. If you decide to strip them, make them fit and repaint every chrome part, it is possible to make a very nice car out of it. Cor
TheCat Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 That's a beautiful BMW. Love the color and the awesome details of the interior and engine compartment.
a/gass Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 That's a beautiful BMW. Love the color and the awesome details of the interior and engine compartment. looks great
MonoPed Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Very nice!! I have this kit hiding in the pile, cool to see another one built, and built well.
sjordan2 Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Great build on one of the coolest automotive designs of all time. What paint did you use? That's somewhat close to what I want to use on my Maserati 3500 GTi, though I can't find anything just like this picture.
Mr Core Posted June 16, 2011 Author Posted June 16, 2011 Thank you guys for the comments @sjordan The color is Tamiya Light Gun Metal. I think it is a bit too bright for your Maserati according to that picture. But it is in my opinion perfect for these kind of cars.
stevegt738 Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 One of the nicest BMWs ever made, and your build looks great. Well done.
Jim Gibbons Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Skip, Testor's Graphite Metallic (assuming they still make that color) might be a good match. I built a '59 Eldorado for a friend using that color, and I was happy with the results. Looks great with a red interior.
