W-409 Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Here it is, finished product. Started out as a Monogram's kit, which presents a Street version of Cobra. I have also Revell's racing version on the stash... This was very great kit to build, I started of course from engine, which I painted blue. Added some details to it, plug wires carburetor linkages and fuel lines etc. Chassis went together nicely, and I added brake lines there. All of the axle systems fit very nicely. The frame is silver, but floor is matt black, and from the rear it's gloss black. Most of the frame components are silver. Interior is black, and I painted the wooden steering wheel, added seat belts from Scale Dreams and belt buckles from Model Car Garage. The cauges are printed out, they are paper. Body is painted with a spray can, but it has no clear. The paintjob is quite good, I think, because of good paint. Decals were very tricky to install nicely, and they aren't looking as good as they could be, but good enough... The top is bit warped, but I glued it as nicely is I could. Nothing special about the final assembly, kit goes together very nicely. I painted tire textes and detailed the spinners of the wheels too. This one is my fourth model in 2011. Here are some outside pictures, great sunshine so I decided to take pics outside.
W-409 Posted June 22, 2011 Author Posted June 22, 2011 (edited) Some more pictures about it. Thanks for looking! The WIP thread is here:http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37691&st=0 Comments are very welcome, so the next one is better. Edited June 22, 2011 by W-409
Reeves Racing Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Nice build. I like the wire wheels. I have an extra one of these kits and I also have a Revell AG Ferrari 250 that I got some PE wire wheels for. I think I am going to use the kit plastic wires from the Ferrari on my Cobra. Yours looks great. I guess this would be a fiberglass Cobra body, with that big metal flake paint it looks like the huge metal flake gel-cotes they use on fiberglass bass boats.
W-409 Posted June 23, 2011 Author Posted June 23, 2011 Thanks. Great to hear that there are some more Cobras coming. I might get started my Race version soon... The metalflake effect is looking different in that great sunshine. I must take inside pictures of it, so it looks like it really is. Now those flakes are looking HUGE, as you said.
W-409 Posted June 28, 2011 Author Posted June 28, 2011 Here are some better pictures of the car. Now the flakes are looking as they really are, so I think, these pictures are lot better. Next I must build the Racing Version of the Cobra, it will be more realistic than this one...
davyou5 Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Just Beautiful! While the Metallic paint might be extreme for me, It Still looks Awesome! Great Job! .
W-409 Posted June 29, 2011 Author Posted June 29, 2011 Thanks, both! I like this one too. It turned out pretty good, I think.
