Agent G Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I got this kit in a raffle back in November. Armored cars are not usually my thing, so it sat until a "What If?" group build started on Armorama. I decided on a local defense force vehicle patrolling the area around Hoover Dam, hence the desert camo. I scratch built the radar, and large radio antenna. I used some Plastruct sheet to depict add on armor on the sides. I used MM Acryl Israeli Sand Gray, Field Drab, Sand and Gunmetal for the camoflage. I'm not liking the MM Acryl for detail work. It clogs my airbrush too quickly and forced me to add all sorts of things to keep the paint flowing. We have had 100+ temps and NO humidity here all week. Frickin' paint dried in the AB cup! G
niteowl7710 Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Is that 1:35? I have a couple of police SWAT ideas for that...but I admit to being a scale bigot.
Agent G Posted June 23, 2011 Author Posted June 23, 2011 Yes sir, 1/35th scale. 1/43 scale decals look just right on some 1/35th armor. When I get home I'll post pics of a LAV I made into a police vehicle. G
Agent G Posted June 24, 2011 Author Posted June 24, 2011 This is the old Italeri LAV kit in 1/35th scale. It is so innacurate as to be laughable so I turned it into a what if SLPD vehicle. The turret markings, and license plate are from a Chimneyville 1/43 scale sheet. I made the decal for the side on my own. BTW #154 was my badge number. G
Agent G Posted October 8, 2011 Author Posted October 8, 2011 I finally finished this puppy. All markings were hand painted. This will eventually be part of a post apocalyptic diorama set "somewhere in Las Vegas". I have figures on order, and the makings for the base. Now I just have to get started. G
Agent G Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 Utah Arizona Nevada Alliance The ID placard is a composite of the Arizona state flag over the Utah and Nevada state flags. I hand painted this on a scrap of sheet plastic. G
