I can respect that, but I have to say that each RC is a Model in themselves the only difference is they are controlled by a radio and have working differentials and driveshafts. You are still using the same materials and building from scratch just as you would with any Big Scale Model.

Like the HiLux I have as my Avatar, it was a scale build with scratch built dash and fully detailed bed interior with working tailgate latches just like the original. The original Tamiya Bruiser didnt have any of these things from a true detailed Rockcrawler.

i did alot work lately on the hemtt

the sud frame i mounted mounting brackets and added alittle more detail to it, but i think its ready for primer

the engine compartment. i received in the 65 turn motor and 16-1 planetary trans. this should give it plenty low in torque

the motor and trans will be mounted where i have to build the resin motor arround it.

ive also finished painting the fron axles and suspension. really happy with this weeks progress

So Joe, in looking at the pic it looks like your resin engine block is resting right up against the 65turn CAN of the RC motor. Any worries about the CAN getting hot and warping the resin?

the motor is super slow. the resin will have space betweenand it wont be touchng the motor. thnx for pointing that out though. you never know when i might over look something

No problem, just trying to remember if my Brushless Motor I used on my 1/10 scale got hot or not. One thing I do remember is having a battery pack blow up on me due to over charging it. Was not a good sight, the cells were so hot I had to rip my Hilux off of the frame before my custom interior melted and caught fire. :) oops...

reason why i didnt use a v-8 because i figure big big truck use big big engine

for the trans to fit right i had to cut it off and lower it 3/4 of inch

then i hav to remake it to look some what of an original part.

still need to paint the motor under the allison engine so you dont see it.

the engine block is together and painted a coral blue

also made engine mounts and ainted them matt black, there alot of work to go in this engine bay

Very cool looking, I was searching on ebay and saw a Japanese model company (dont think it was Tamiya) 1/16 motorized car. The guy took photo's of the instructions and it shows the motor and tranny built into the styrene engine block and the axles and pinion.

Any way I digressed. Awesome pics of how you are getting it to all come together!

Looking nice Joe!

I have a question for you, have you by chance messed with any of the Monogram 1/16 semi's? I am curious to know how much larger the 1/14 Tamiya stuff is, because I am thinking of building a stretched custom semi.

the wedico stuff is 1/16 and you can see the difference. if your doing a r/c scratch then the body is to small .im here if you need any parts

Nice Job Joe! I like that you used a rigid styrene, any reason why you did use some PhotoEtch screen and cut the Rad from that?

My 1/16 Kenworth W900 Conventional should be on my door step next week! Then I will have to break the box open and begin assessing what I want to replace with Wedico parts from Garden Trucking.

I want to try and figure out a 4link rear suspension for it. I guess it would be something like the floating suspension?

You stated you build your own frames from C Channel. What is the size just curious? 3/4 x 1/4 by chance?

so for more detail, i made one today. the mount is alum and the steering box is round styrene

without any measurements in front of me, i guessed the size. but i think i have it right

Superb. I was a bit surprised to see the Allison in there, did any of those trucks run them in 1:1, or were they diesels?

-MJS

they had turbo v-8s in them.
