VW Dave Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 I took a little sunny day joyride last Monday to shoot fresh pics of my little toy car. '68 vintage tags were a Christmas gift from me to the car last year: Dash panel was signed by Bruce @ Import Carlisle 2009(car was at home): Stopped by the Rolling Bones Hot Rod Shop while out and about:
crazyjim Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 Super nice looking buggy, Dave. Now you make me really miss my IMP.
randx0 Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 I feel like it has been 4 years since I first heard it was being repopped. if I had known it was going to take this long I would have shelled out the going rate for an original.hopefully this has been the last push back and we really will see it in november just in time for winter.
VW Dave Posted June 29, 2011 Author Posted June 29, 2011 I got a virgin original kit about 8 years ago, and I'm nearly ready to make a replica of my original 1:1 out of it; the longest delay was getting the 'flake paint right. I'm just hoping to pick up one or two of the reissues to help offset the price I paid for my original.
Art Anderson Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 It's been within the last 6 or 7 years, but Collectible Automobile Magazine had a feature article on Bruce Meyers and the Meyers Manx, with a lot of color pics. Worth trying to locate that issue, frankly. Art
VW Dave Posted July 6, 2011 Author Posted July 6, 2011 I agree, the story was well-written and presented; IIRC, Car & Driver did a feature on Bruce a couple of years back as well. My wife and I recognized Bruce's workshop in a couple of the photos, which was a spot we got to visit/lend a hand while on vacation in SoCal a few years back.
