Adam deCoste Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 I first built this model when i was about 9, I thought I had more pictures of it before I disassembled it and stripped the paint off. I'm not completely sure how I'm going to build it yet but I think maybe a drag/street car? And you guys can comment on this build if you want there was so much glue used to glue the interior tub into the body the trunk has some sink marks in it!
Guest Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Looks like you're going all out on this restore Adam. A street/drag car sounds like a perfect idea for it! I bought one years ago that I was going to pro street, but never got around to it. I like your idea better,so I may get around to it now. Are you planning on keeping the kit supplied 428?
Adam deCoste Posted June 29, 2011 Author Posted June 29, 2011 I'm not sure yet on what engine I'm going to use but i may use the engine it came with, with some custom things added to it
Lunajammer Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 I don't know how far your plan will go for this but I built one box stock some years ago and my favorite part was the engine it came with... at least how it views from the top. Maybe not ideal for strip running but factory stock was great.
Wagoneer81 Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Cars like this look good as 'Pro-Touring' rides, with the proper engine, stance, wheel/tire combo, etc... But, being a '69 Cougar, will look awesome however its built. I'm looking forward to seeing what you decide to do with it. I have this same kit that somebody before me started... and someday I'll undo his damage and finish it...lol!
GTMust Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 (edited) I like the way Stacy is modifying his Cougar on "Gearz". Whatever you do with the bodywork, taking out the front shock towers, upgrading the front and rear suspensions and dropping in a Boss 429 would be neat. But then...... he's already done it! Looking forward to following whatever you decide. Tony Edited June 30, 2011 by GTMust
BKcustoms Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 this looks like its going to be an awesome build! any ideas for paint yet?
Adam deCoste Posted June 30, 2011 Author Posted June 30, 2011 i was think i might do it in dark red with a black top
Adam deCoste Posted July 3, 2011 Author Posted July 3, 2011 I was just scrubbing the paint off the parts that had been soaking in easy off but my thumb (witch i cut quite bad the other day) was bothring me to much so i'm going to have to wait for that to heal. But i know exactly how i want to build that car now.

Adam deCoste Posted July 3, 2011 Author Posted July 3, 2011 I think everyone knows this is NOT what a 69 cougar inner fender looks like, so i'm on the search for a mustang inner fender. I'm also looking for some wheels like these to use, these are on the revell 70 torino cobra.
Monty Posted July 3, 2011 Posted July 3, 2011 (edited) Adam, I've read where other people building these older Cougars resolved the inner fenderwell issue by using the assembly that comes in the MPC '71-'73 Cougars. These kits are still fairly common, so you shouldn't have to spend a whole lot to get one. (I'm hoping someone who has done this will post with pictures) Apparently the MCM Rent-A-Server won't allow me to use this url to show a picture of the assembly as depicted in the instructions, so here's a link to it (See block #9). http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/instruction_sheetsh/instruction_sheets/mpc-4/mpc-the-cat-73-merc/mpccougar7308300004.html Edited July 3, 2011 by Monty
