MikeMc Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 I'm thinking a large lightweight plastic drop cloth....Do not have a clue on supporting it. Any ideas or pictures??
ra7c7er Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 I use an upside-down cardboard box with "DIORAMA DO NOT MOVE OR LIFT" written on every side. It works really well. I know other guys that put them in clear tubs. The thing with any sort of cloth is if it gets pulled your dio will go to. If it is a fairly simple dio with not a ton of intricate detail you could probably just leave it uncovered and dust it gently every once in a while.

Are you talking about keeping it clean while in storage, or keeping it clean on display? If you mean on display, there are companies that make custom sized plex or tempered glass display cases (for model ships). Not cheap, but very classy looking if the diorama is worth the $$$ to you to display it that way.
crazyjim Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 I make my own display cases out of plexiglass I get from Lowe's and use clear silicone in the corners to hold them together. You can make almost any particular size you need. Relatively cheap, too!

A little of both....It is a photo background and I suspect will be in "construction" for some time...The plexi Idea is valid...but out of my $$ for a while. I'm thinking of a PVC framework with a sheet plastic cover,,,like a drop cloth. My biggest issue will be keeping the bushes and trees dust free..
crazyjim Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 That's pretty big. Plexiglass would cost a few bucks and I think you'd want some supports in the center - right where the shop is located.
