Jordan White Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 (edited) What I'll be building is using the 1993 Ranger STX kit, along with parts from a snap-tite NASCAR and engine from the Revell Mustang convertible, I'll be building a faux-stock truck, similar in style to the Monte Carlo from the Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. I'll be using the rear axle/suspension, wheels/tires, steering wheel, and the roll cage from the NASCAR kit. Here's the chassis so far. Edited September 20, 2012 by Jordan White
gray07 Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 I just picked up a ranger model, ive been wanting to build the ranger lightning (i cant remember what they called it), that they built on the show trucks, so i will be watching this build, keep the updates coming.
highway Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 I just picked up a ranger model, ive been wanting to build the ranger lightning (i cant remember what they called it), that they built on the show trucks, so i will be watching this build, keep the updates coming. That project was called "Rolling Thunder", and actually a Mazda B2000 that was reskinned with a Ranger front clip. Of course, the Mazda is still just a Ranger in disguise!
tooltas Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 its was the show truck on spike network. looks hot it truck is mazda b2400 truck i wish that they would make a mazda truck kit.
RodneyBad Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Cool looking truck so far Chassis and rear suspension looks Super.
Jordan White Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 I still have to do a little more bondo work, but I added the bodykit from the Monogram '91 Chevy S10 kit, along with a modified front airdam from the Revell Acura Integra. Rear end had to have a filler panel made as well. Also opened up the rad core support to allow for the full effect of the kit see-through grille shell.
Jordan White Posted August 18, 2011 Author Posted August 18, 2011 Well I finally got some more done on this build. Just about finished the chassis/drivetrain (only have to finish the exhaust) and I finished the interior as well, in which I added a simple rollcage from the NASCAR kit.
RodneyBad Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 looking Good. Nice ground effects Chassis is looking Great.. Good looking Engine..
Jordan White Posted August 31, 2011 Author Posted August 31, 2011 'Tis actually a 'Stang 5.0, the #1 spark plug wire is just hidden behind the alternator (which just so happens to be the same color as the engine). As far as updates go, I just started school again for the fall, so it will be a bit before I get back into the swing of things. I do have the body painted though and just have to put on a clear coat which I might try and do this weekend.
tooltas Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 then its going eat the road up its far from stock then
Jordan White Posted September 1, 2011 Author Posted September 1, 2011 Hopefully I'm not ruining a joke or anything but I'm referring to "stock truck" as NASCAR does to their vehicles. Basically it looks fairly stock, but of course has a modified drivetrain and engine.
gray07 Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 I love this truck but i have a question, what nascar did the yellow letter tires come from.
Jordan White Posted September 16, 2011 Author Posted September 16, 2011 It was the Revell Snaptite AC Delco Monte Carlo (Earnhardt's blue #3).
gray07 Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Cool thank you, are you using the headlights from this truck, if not what would you want on trade for them, i built a ranger splash and the headlights are gone..
Jordan White Posted September 16, 2011 Author Posted September 16, 2011 Actually I do plan on using the lights since it's meant to be a street legal truck (well...save for the non-DOT approved racing slicks ).
gray07 Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 That would be a cool truck to drive on the street.
