Darin Bastedo Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I want it to look like it was a factory option, but I'm not sure about using the stock wheels. I'm thinking of fabricating a set of either faux steel wheels with trim rings and caps, Chrome reverse wheels, or Tork-thrust wheels to mate to the stock tires. What do you guys think? Do you have any better ideas?
High octane Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I haven't seen the wheels that come with the kit, however I don't think that steelies w/ rings & caps or chrome reversed wheels would look good on the Prowler in my opinion. Perhaps you could find something in the Pegasus line?
Chuck Most Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I have a half-started rat rod Prowler somewhere, and what I did was use a set of spare 17" and 20" rings, then modified some parts box 15" wheel spiders from a '77 Monaco kit to fit in the Prowler tires. Looking back, I think I'd have been better off with using just the hubs from the steel wheels, and making the spiders from scratch to better fit the large diameter wheels.
Jim Gibbons Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I like your sketch and idea; maybe the factory wheel spokes could be painted body color. Just a thought.
Harry P. Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Nothing looks better on a "woody" than steel wheels, chrome trim rings and baby moons! (this is a quick 5 minute hack job... your model will look much better!) BTW... nice idea and nice sketch! Should post it under "Auto Art"...

Junkman Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 (edited) Leave the front mudguards and bumperettes away. And drop in a Viper V-10. Edited July 27, 2011 by Junkman

That was one of my first major kitbash project, about twelve or thirteen years ago. Never finished that one, but the blown 427 from a Revell Corvette ('68, maybe?) WILL fit!
randx0 Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 I wonder how the rims from the black force model would look. It's a shame more prowlers aren't built or kitbashed. that chassis fits nicely under amts 40 ford.
