robdot Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 can i use rustoleum white primer under this duplicolor stuff? the only primer i see in duplicolor is grey and i have some bad experiences with grey primers showing through.
MikeMc Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I wouldn't..........that said what color are you using? White primers are known for being opaque.....I use grey primer and if I am shooting a light color, I use HOK BC26 white over the primer,The white HOK base is close to Tamiya white primer.....The trouble you might find is the two paints craze, crack, or wrinkle....Do a spoon test
robdot Posted July 28, 2011 Author Posted July 28, 2011 i was looking for a white primer to use under the duplicolor perfect match rattle cans. twice before when i tried to use grey primers, the grey kinda bled through the color i sparayed over it. both times the top color was a red shade. the grey underneath also seems to make the top coat darker.
Jantrix Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Duplicolor white primer IS available. I get it at Pep Boys. Call around your local auto parts stores. Also have sprayed light colors over Duplicolor grey with no issues.
robdot Posted July 28, 2011 Author Posted July 28, 2011 ok, thanks, maybe it just wasnt at the place i looked. you ever have any problems using duplicolors primer or paints?
Kit Basher Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Jantrix is right. I use Duplicolor "White sandable primer". Really nice stuff. Works fine with Duplicolor, Tamiya, and Testors lacquer top coats.
