Nitrozilla Posted August 15, 2011 Author Posted August 15, 2011 Um, is this what yer lookin' for? There was more touch up to do than I remembered, plus I built a rearview mirror for the headliner. I'm on the brink of being done, so for those of you who wanna see a completed project of mine, look in Under Glass for "Just Another Hustler." It's the model I finished before yanking out this build. Enjoy, have a nice nite. P.S. Thanx Wayne, but I spent a lot of today getting used to my good camera. These pics and the Hustler were taken with it. Doesn't mean we can't hook up though. I missed you last time at Henderson Hobbies. Wanna give it another shot?
diymirage Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 looking real good i read earlier you use a android to take the WIP shots on my wifeys android there is a setting called "scenes" on the camera by switching that one around you can find a macro setting i took a quick shot of a 1/25 engine bay, as soon as it uploads ill post it here for comparission (assuming your phone is similair to hers)
Dragracer Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 The Wheelstander looks great Joe!, the bellypan & the body came out great, really nice build & idea!
diymirage Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 on a related note, i just had the TV on in the background and i head a very interesting story a local man (now a reverend but not sure how long he has been a man of the cloth) who served in vietnam as a medic has just been awarded the purple heart for injuries sustained during the vietnam war it sure is great too see this man getting the recognition he deserves (ill try to find a little local news link to add here)
Nitrozilla Posted August 15, 2011 Author Posted August 15, 2011 Okay, so here's the plan. Tonite I finish the chassis. I just finished touchup on the body and it'll get gobs and gobs of clear tomorrow. Final assembly and pics as well. I can't wait. Just to keep the illusion of incompleteness, I'm putting the wheels on last. I'll post pics of the chassis when I'm done, hopefully around 9 or 10 PST. Tony T - Danke Dragracer - I KNOW, HUH??????? Diymirage - Don't sweat it, I'm going to use the Sony from now on. The phone was easy. With this thing I gotta keep the battery charged, pull the card, download, etc, etc, yada, yada, yada.........Bein' lazy. Wayne - Went by there today at noon and the closed sign said "Back by 10" Joe
Jantrix Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 A most impressive creation. As a fellow vet (Coast Guard 92-01, active) (Florida ANG 02-05, reserve) I appreciate the sentiment and thank you for your service.

Dragracer Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 The chassis really came out nice Joe. Can't wait to see the rest when it's totally complete.
Nitrozilla Posted August 17, 2011 Author Posted August 17, 2011 I knew these stars were gonna be the death of me from the moment the first one broke. I didn't clear coat the sheet because I would have had to hand trim every star first. I hoped against hope that once I got clear on them it would be fine. Wrong. In the first pic you can see the warpage and wrinkling. Well, she's not show worthy, but it's done for now. Time to move on to the JJ Tribute and give this a rest. Life isn't all about success and happy endings. I will fix all of the problems including the tire stance. BTW, the front stance being low is intentional. I know it's not normal for a car that comes slamming back down at the end of a run. I do have future plans of replacing the front end with a leaf spring / straight axle when parts and finances allow. I will also be adding a rear view mirror, starter, battery, ignition box, hydraulic pump and hoses to the wheelie bar struts (also not finished. Gotta do all clear coat first), and finally, throttle and trans linkage. Look on the bright side, it'll be nice to revisit this in a couple of months. Lastly, that'll be about the time I have the hauler done. I'll be using a pair of Deoras. She'll be stretched with tandom axles on the rear. If it looks alright, I might even stack one cab on top of the main cab. Then it'll get a "parts storage / ramp assembly just like Don Prudhomme's yellow 'Cuda hauler. I promised kewlness. Think that might get it done?
Tony T Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Too bad about the stars...any chance they'll lay down more as it dries??If not...still, looks totally kewl...looking forward to the hauler, too!! Great job!!
diymirage Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 i would salute it if i didnt think it'd be off for a civilian to do so bravo
