sbk Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 (edited) If so, what were your results? Thanks, Edited August 3, 2011 by sbk
sbk Posted August 3, 2011 Author Posted August 3, 2011 Thanks, but I should have been more clear. I meant sending parts out to be plated, not painted with Alclad.
sjordan2 Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I'd go with what the plating company recommends and call them about it. Here's part of the prepping process that Chrome Tech USA describes, that is somewhat relevant to your question: Painting and putty Not recommended. Not recommended, do so only if you must modify a part. If you must use putty then sand as mentioned above. For best results all areas that have putty should be sealed with a clear coat of lacquer or polyurethane. We recommend Tester #1961 clear lacquer. Please keep in mind that plating does not hide imperfections. It greatly highlights them. Any work must be perfect! More details here: http://www.chrometechusa.com/modelplate3.html
