Guest Sickfish Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 (edited) G'day guys! Here's my latest finished build, the SL65 AMG 'Benz. It's the Aoshima kit, box-stock, with only tyre change's. I wanted something a bit different without making any big mods. It's called the black-edition so what better colour to paint it... Matte black! ( Testors Chrome Black ) I didn't like the tyres, as now even Aoshima's tyres are coming without sidewall detail ! So I raided the spare tyre box & pulled out the tyres from the Tamiya F50. They fit perfectly & no mods needed I wanted to give it that muscle car look so I used a white paint marker & did my best to highlight the lettering ... Nothing else was done/added. Anyway here it is.... Cheers & thanks for looking, Cliffo Edited August 4, 2011 by Sickfish
Harry P. Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Nice clean build, very "stealthy" looking. Personally I would have gone with a high-gloss finish... but this looks pretty good, too.
Guest Sickfish Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 (edited) More pics... Cheers Cliffo Edited August 4, 2011 by Sickfish
Harry P. Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 This would make a great Batmobile if Batman was German... Fledermausmann!
sjordan2 Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 (edited) Great job, and an excellent use of the new (but strange) Mercedes colors using matte and chrome-like paints. http://www.zercustoms.com/news/Mercedes-Matte-Paint.html Edited August 4, 2011 by sjordan2
Guest Sickfish Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Thanks guys! Just took some outdoor pics... Cheers Cliffo
sjordan2 Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 On the other side of the coin, it would also be accurate to use Alclad for body paint, such as this one with Aluma-Bead silver:
