RodneyBad Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Your off to a good start. Gotta like the AMT chassis over the Johan. Funny thing too, The AMT Chassis is also a Hair long for a 4dr Monaco..

a/gass Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 wouldnt it have been cheeper to use the mpc 70 supper bee ( $13.00 Vs $21.00) or is the RR frame different ? just wondering ive been kicken around the idea of doing this to a 63 plymouth & 62 dart ?if the RR frame is closer isnt the new 69 gtx the same ? its only $14.00?or is the amount of work just the same? and you used what was lying around?thanks mike.and your RR is lookin great - keep up the good work.
Marc @ MPC Motorsports Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 '70 Super Bee/'68 RR/'69 GTX all use the same chassis.
MrDemon340 Posted August 5, 2011 Author Posted August 5, 2011 the amt chasis is the same like marc said the johan has no detail at all to the chasis

Nick Notarangelo Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 I did the same thing with the fast and furios 70 charger, that road runner chassis is just a little trim here and there and it slips right in.
moparfarmer Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Aren't there two setting you can glue the front clip on the AMT pieces? Seem to recall there was. Haven't built an AMT Mopar since 15 yrs ago. Just a memory I recall.
RodneyBad Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 gotta trim it just alil Naah, I'm just gonna Fudge the Rear axle placement a Bit.. For Moparfarmer. Naah, Only one hole for Front frame placement..
MrDemon340 Posted August 5, 2011 Author Posted August 5, 2011 i thought of that but when u slip the chasis in there u can see parts of the rear wheel tubs from beside the car where they aint foward anuff
moparfarmer Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 Rodney, I seem to recall now that you mentioned it, you are right. The different wheelbase front clip was for the MPC racecar series they had. There were pony cars, and intermediates and only one chassis. You could use the different holes for the front clips on them.
exnyman Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 The AMT chassis may be better but the Johan Body is far better than the AMT. The AMT doesn't capture the rear quarter panels or the rear wheel opening shape very well at all, looks like they used a car that had extensive bondo/patch panel work done to it as their master.....
MrDemon340 Posted August 5, 2011 Author Posted August 5, 2011 thats what im doing using the amt chassis and the johan body
