Dr. Cranky Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Folks, I'm working on this vehicle from the new MPC kit that comes with a trailer. Right now I've started working on the car . . . It took me a while to come up with the right tires and wheels . . . but The Modelhaus (170 resins) came through. The rims are from the parts bin. I smoothed out the sides, removing the drip guards over the windows and the insignias . . . I still don't know what color this one is going to be, but it's definitely going to be done in House of Kolor . . . Stay tuned in for more progress . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted September 3, 2011 Author Posted September 3, 2011 Here's a linked video of what I'm planning to do to this one:
Rob Z Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 This looks like a fun build Doc, can't wait to see what you come up with color wise. Whatever it is I know it's going to be sharp...
Dr. Cranky Posted September 3, 2011 Author Posted September 3, 2011 Got a tip for ya Doc. If you drill a couple mounting holes a bit higher for the front bumper it'll make the front end look a lot better. The bumper sits too low as it comes in the kit. I used to own a 1/1 '76 Caprice Classic Landau back in a previous life so I'm a bit familiar with the car. Can't say I care for your choice of rolling stock but different tasts are what makes us all different and it'd be kinda boaring if everyone built cars exactly alike , right? Build on good doctor ,, we'll be watching. Thanks, Steve. Actually I would have rather gone with some other tires and wheels, but this is for a YOUTUBE contest that neither permits low riders nor donks, nor rat rods . . . they only accept factor stock or custom, so I have always wanted to see one of these big boats with wide whites . . . I think once I get the color on there (and possible graphix) this might help. Stay tuned in. Thanks for the tip on the bumper . . . let me see what I can do . . . Thanks, Rob . . . I am testing out some House of Kolor colors, so I will make a decision on what color shortly . . . thanks for staying tuned in . . .

Dr. Cranky Posted September 3, 2011 Author Posted September 3, 2011 If I get this close, I will be happy with it!
Dominik Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Hi Virgil, i like this fullsize cars of the seventies. I'm courios, what kind of paintjob you make. I built mine also in stockversion in a classic 70s-brown with brown interior.
Dr. Cranky Posted September 4, 2011 Author Posted September 4, 2011 Thanks, John . . . and Dominik, we'll see where this one goes. I am thinking of HOK Razberry Pearl . . . but I could easily go with Rootbeer too.
Tonioseven Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 This is going to be quite interesting in a GOOD way!

Guest Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Looks pretty cool Virgil. How about putting a landau top on it?
Dr. Cranky Posted September 7, 2011 Author Posted September 7, 2011 I think that kind of top is going to take space away from the canvas. LOL! Maybe the next one . . . we'll see how this thing turns out . . .
