Dr. Cranky Posted September 7, 2011 Author Posted September 7, 2011 Here's the chassis pretty much done . . . after the lotions, potions, and general gunk!
Dr. Cranky Posted September 7, 2011 Author Posted September 7, 2011 Here we go, almost done now . . . but still adding a few touches here and there . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted September 7, 2011 Author Posted September 7, 2011 Final assembly is pretty smooth on this kit, but the interior tub is a little tricky going in, so you have to go very slow . . . Real wood bed boards . . . nothing like it! Love these kinds of details on a clunker like this!
Dr. Cranky Posted September 7, 2011 Author Posted September 7, 2011 All right, this one is moving to the UNDER GLASS section . . . but here's the last picture, which reminds me of EYEGORE's motto: LONG LIVE RUST!
deathskull59 Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 i like my most of my trucks rusty also. and this one is the the best rusty rat truck out of them all.
Dr. Cranky Posted September 8, 2011 Author Posted September 8, 2011 Thanks, everyone. It is always loads of fun building when you guys are watching. I appreciate your generosity of spirit.
Romell R Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 I would not want to see that on a contest table next to my build ! Outstanding work Virgil! Bravo!
Dr. Cranky Posted September 8, 2011 Author Posted September 8, 2011 I would, buddy, because that means we'd finally get to meet and shake hands!
matador88 Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 hey virgil, great build. and a pretty fast (!!) too. that fading effect is based on a reaction between salt and acrylic color. i have it all the time. its great though.
Dr. Cranky Posted September 8, 2011 Author Posted September 8, 2011 Yes, I love it . . . there's also a pitting (subtle chipping) that happens between the salt grain and the immediate area around the grain . . . it's a fun (very surprising at times) process. Thanks.
