fender6575 Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Is there resin copies of original Amt 63-64 Impala convertible uptops available somewhere? Already checked Modelhaus but no luck. I have their 62 Impala uptop for new tool kit that seems little short for 63-64 verts. Also I m not sure if Monogram 59 or 65 Impala uptops are correctly shaped for more boxy bodied 63-64?
MrObsessive Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I personally don't know of any resin up-tops that are available------Modelhaus did have them at one time, but as you said they've been discontinued. The '59 might be your better bet with some tweaking and reshaping. Windshield headers were pretty much the same for '59-'64 GM convertibles. The sail panels will vary somewhat between the '59 and '63-'64, but nothing that some careful reshaping can't cure, and you may need to lengthen or shorten the top accordingly.
slammd454SS Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 A friend from California sent me a 63 impala uptop to cast, I do some resin pieces, that was my first 2 part mold..and im hoping to pull a normal one out in the next few weeks as I've had a few guys hit me up needing these hard to find pieces.
fender6575 Posted October 3, 2011 Author Posted October 3, 2011 Thanks for the responses. It would be great to buy original or quality resin copy of it. I think I can modify 59 or 62 resin top to fit, but Im not sure if I can handle painting correct surface structure again.
